(Official) Synthesizer V Studio 2 Post-Launch Follow-Up & Updates

Dear users,

We want to start by thanking you for your enthusiasm and support on our launch day, with many of you downloading Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro, voices, and upgrades.

Following the launch, our team at Dreamtonics has been actively addressing several issues related to the upgrade/download flows, web service stability, and the program’s compatibility. Given the dynamic nature of these efforts, we’ll be using this post to provide regular updates on our progress over the coming days.

We apologize sincerely for the inconvenience this has caused and want to reassure you that we are committed to resolving all issues as quickly as possible.

Best regards,

The Dreamtonics Team

> Current Status

We have issued the sixth program update (version 2.0.6) at 18:00 JST, April 8th, covering mainly bug fixes for plugins as well as several cases of crashing.

We have issued the fifth program update (version 2.0.5) at 22:00 JST, March 31st, covering mainly workflow improvements based on user feedback following the 2.0 release.

We have issued the fourth program update (version 2.0.4) at 23:30 JST, March 26th, covering wider cases of platform-specific crashes, performance degradation on specific hardware, and loading issues with the Product Manager and settings panel embedded inside the software.

The following issues are currently under investigation:

  • Playback synchronization issues with ARA Bridge in Studio One and Cakewalk (Windows-only).
  • Possible internet connectivity issues affecting log-in on a small percentage of Windows devices.

> Migration Guide

For general usage issues, please refer to our Migration Guide, which covers topics such as best practices when using Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro and issues you may encounter when importing a version 1 project due to specification differences between the two versions.

> I can’t find where to download the version 2 voices/compatibility updates

With Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro, we’ve simplified the process of managing voices for version 2. All version 2 voices and compatibility updates for version 1 voices are now handled directly within the editor, eliminating the need to download and install them separately:

  1. Open Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro.

  2. Click on the cloud icon inside the editor. This will open the Product Manager page, embedded within the editor.

  3. From the Product Manager page, you can download, update, install, and uninstall voices as needed.

> I can’t access Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro offline

You may activate an offline license if you have a permanent license for Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro. To do so:

  1. Open Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro and log into your account.

  2. Click on the cloud icon inside the editor. In the Product Manager page, find the item for Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro under “My Products”, click “Activate Offline”.

This will make all of your permanently licensed voices available offline as well.

Please deactivate the offline license first if you want to log in from another device.

> Error 400 when adding activation codes to my account

Issue: I’m getting a 400 error message when trying to add any of following types of activation codes:

  • Activation codes for Kasane Teto and Haruno Sora.

  • Activation codes for Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro Upgrade, purchased from AHS.

Status: Resolved.

You may now add all products to your account.

However, for the compatibility updates for Kasane Teto and Haruno Sora, you may experience quality degradations affecting the phoneme timings if you have downloaded the voice before 16:30 JST. We have issued fixes. Please open the Product Manager from within Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro and download the voice updates.

> Error 500 when accessing the Product Manager page

Issue: I’m getting a 500 error message when opening the Product Manager page, either from the web browser or from the embedded Product Manager inside Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro.

Status: Improved.

This is likely a side effect of certain rate limits we have imposed to prevent the server from overloading on the launch day. We have since then lifted some of the limits. Please let us know if you are still encountering this error.

> Compatibility updates for Kasane Teto/Haruno Sora sounding off-beat

Please see issue “Error 400 when adding activation codes to my account” above.

> Crashes when loading a project

Issue: Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro crashes when opening/importing a project created in version 1 or MIDI files containing certain lyrics.

Status: Fixed.

This bug affects projects containing long silences and projects containing tracks/groups that start with a legato note.

We have fixed this issue in an updated version (2.0.1). Please re-download Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro and override the existing installation.

> Rendered pitch doesn’t follow the hand-drawn pitch curves

Issue: I imported a project from version 1 into Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro, switched to the pitch curves mode, and drew some curves on top of the notes. The final pitch curves are not following the curves I have drawn, but rather appearing with a certain offset added to my inputs.

Status: there are two possible causes:

  1. We have discovered a bug with the pitch curve mode that causes very long curves spanning across multiple notes to be partially ignored by the engine. We have fixed this issue in an updated version (2.0.1). Please re-download Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro and override the existing installation.
  2. This can be due to the Pitch Deviation parameters, likely created under manual mode in the version 1 editor being directly imported into the version 2 editor. You may reset the pitch deviation, or change all notes into Rigid mode and trace the pitch curves as control points to workaround this issue. Read our Migration Guide for more information.

> Unable to select a voice for upgrade after initiating the trial

Issue: I currently own a version 1 voice. After initiating the trial for the version 2 of the same voice, the “Upgrade to Version 2” button next to the version 1 voice has disappeared.

Status: Fixed. You may now select the voice for an upgrade without having to wait until the trial expires.

> Failure to start on Windows 10

Issue: Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro does not run on Windows 10

Status: Fixed. We have identified compatibility issues with older versions of Windows 10 that are no longer officially supported. Specifically, versions prior to Build 19044 may experience problems.

The compatibility issue was resolved in version 2.0.2. If you are experiencing issues with loading the Product Manager from within Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro, please install Webview2 Runtime from Microsoft:

https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2?form=MA13LH#download

> I can’t download NYL II

Issue: When I try to download NYL II from the Product Manager it pops up an error message and the download does not start.

Status: Fixed.

> I can’t access the complimentary voices for Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro

Issue: I started the trial for Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro and then added/purchased an upgrade from version 1 to version 2. However, I’m not seeing the option to select my complimentary voice.

Status: We identified a flaw causing some users not able to select a complimentary voice after starting the trial. We have fixed this issue and re-issued the complimentary voice option to all users who have been affected.

> Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro does not launch on older versions of macOS

Issue: I’m on macOS High Sierra/Big Sur. When I try to run Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro as a standalone, the splash screen appears briefly for a moment before disappearing. When I try to run Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro as a plugin, it crashes the host.

Status: Partially fixed.

We identified a system feature used by Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro that is not supposed by earlier versions of macOS. Compatibility issues with macOS Big Sur were resolved in version 2.0.2.

Between High Sierra (10.13, the minimal supported version) and Catalina (10.15), users were able to launch the program but unable to open the built-in Product Manager page. We have performed a fix for Apple Silicons, although the issue seems to persist on Intel Macs. We are still investigating the compatibility issues with Intel Macs running Catalina and older versions of macOS.

> Crashes during rendering

Issue: I can open Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro and load a project. However, as soon as it begins to render, the software crashes.

Status: Fixed in version 2.0.2. There were two causes:

  • Some projects may contain invalid characters in the lyrics that caused the language detection module to fail.
  • A renderer scheduling bug was discovered which had caused invalid input into the engine in certain cases where several legatos are followed by a silence.

If the issue persists after upgrading to version 2.0.2 or if the crash happens for projects not matching the description above, please send us the project so we can look into the issue.

> Slow GUI response on certain DAWs on Windows

Issue: Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro does not respond to playback commands from Ableton Live, Cubase or REAPER. The GUI may appear laggy. In some extreme cases, even the audio will stutter.

Status: Fixed in version 2.0.3. The reports seem to be all from Windows systems. We have not been able to replicate this issue on our own testing devices. However, it seems like all reports involve an NIVIDIA GPU. We therefore hypothesize that this is caused by a new Direct2D GUI renderer. We have switched back to the software renderer by default.

> Product Manager / Onboarding Screen / Settings Panel does not load on Windows

Issue: When I try to open the Product Manager or Settings Panel inside Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro, I’m only seeing a blank screen with no actual content loaded.

Status: Fixed in version 2.0.3, however with certain exceptions: this can be due to the missing WebView2 Runtime, or in some rarer cases due to corrupted cache for the embedded web browser. Please perform the following procedures:

  1. Install WebView2 Runtime (“Evergreen Bootstrapper”) from Microsoft:

https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2?form=MA13LH#download

  1. Remove the following folder and restart Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro:
    C:\Users\<Your Username>\AppData\Roaming\Dreamtonics\Synthesizer V Studio 2\webview2

You can also workaround this issue by simplying pressing Ctrl + F5 to force the embedded browser to clean the cache and reload.

> I can’t log into my account from China.

Issue: I am located in or near China. When I complete the log in from the browser and return to Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro, I get immediately logged out.

Status: Fixed. Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro implements a region detection logic which is supposed to choose the closest server from the user. We however have identified a bug in the current version that causes part of the communication to be sent to a wrong service region. Upon identifying the issue we have promptly implemented a server-side mitigation that would allow the current stable version to log in. The client-side fix was completed in version 2.0.3.

I don’t see this covered here:

Render bug in SV2: if the last note on your song is empty, it will block your rendering!! It just stops, never ending. If you delete it or put anything (like “-” in it), all fine. The rendering % may be reported also something else than 99%, bacause rendering is not linearry from beginning to end (multithreaded).

I have not tested this, but I assume that this also applies to last note of any group.

Affects versions 2.0.0 and 2.0.1 in ARA and Standalone mode.

Addition: any invalid letter will block rendering, for example “6”.

Same issue here followed pre-order email and say’s upgrade required license not found…

My error, I have so many licenses for vocals I didn’t select the one for V1. All is good loaded V2 setting up.

I can’t download any of the v.2 voices I preordered with SynthV2. Getting this error.

New update ( 2.0.1) is a good one.
Imported songs from v1 to v2 are working nicely.

Yes and I’m waiting for version 2.0.2 to import the lost Key Shift property from the V1 project (they said soon!).

Exactly same issue with me!

No-one here seems to be complaining about the lack of a Groups panel ?!?

So let me put my marker down for that to be rectified!

Just tested and this bug seems to be resolved in SV 2.0.2

Apologies if this has already been reported, but I discovered after seeing someone post about a 2.0.2 update that SV2 was not prompting me of updates from within my DAW nor was it allowing me to update it despite having automatic updates checked (turned on). So I also did not get a prompt for V 2.0.1 even though I have been using SV2 a good bit since its release. Therefore, I still had 2.0.0 running. However, when I launched SV2 Standalone, it immediately prompted me of the update and gave me a pop-up to download it. I was NOT getting that prompt when it launched in my DAW. I now have 2.0.2 installed and running.

I checked Ableton 12.1.10 (Build: 2025-02-07_7b405e2e2b) with 2 different window versions and 2 different specifications:

  1. ASUS Zenbook
    Windows 10 Home
    OS Build: 19045.5608
    CPU: Intel(R) Core™ i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.81 GHz
    RAM: 16GB

  2. Lenovo Legion
    Windows 10 Home
    OS Build: 19045.5487
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics 2.90 GHz
    RAM: 32GB

On the computer number 2 it works perfectly fine. I am aware of the difference in performance of these 2 computers, but it does not justify such an impact on the DAW when only one Synthesizer track causes the host to slow down during sound playback. Especially since this happens after the vocal has been rendered already, so the processor should not be loaded. Normally, on computer number 1 I use a dozen or so tracks on each of them VST and FX (including Synthesizer version 1, which works flawlessly).

a bug I found (at least in v2.0.0, idk how to update your v2 synthesizer, so idk if it’s fixed), the “strength” of phonemes doesn’t work when you use a v1 voice.

and the accents are just… “bad”. VERY bad. (I described it in a separate forum post). Bad accents! and bad Korean! - Synthesizer V Studio - Dreamtonics Users Forum

I have just found my pop-up blocker was stopping SynthV2 from opening the pop-up to notify me of version 2.0.2, turned off pop-up blocker, restarted SynthV2 and hey presto! a notification inviting me to download the latest bug-fix.

That is something I will have to keep in mind for the future!

Hello, I am running macOS 10.15.7 and with v2.0.2 I managed to install the software and now it doesn’t crash any longer. However, it now crashes when I try to download the voices, both the ones from v1 and those that I have bought for v2. It looks like there are 2 files to download for each voice, and after completing the first file it crashes on the second. Any help?
Thanks in advance.

I can confirm the problem with the Group/Panel.
The Icon in the ‘Action’ bar is missing.
