French is coming to SynthV in 2025-2026? [IMPLIED, NOT STRICTLY CONFIRMED YET]

Here is the info from “Black Friday sale - back and bigger than ever! - Eclipsed Sounds Newsletter November 2025”
This month, we have been continuing to focus on development for the demo phase of our upcoming vocalist, which includes working with songwriters and artists alike. With this new vocal, we are excited to showcase a new, nostalgic “color” for our Tone Chroma series, that we originally teased in last month’s newsletter. That classic, charismatic singing from the past is brought to life from the amazing oldies singer we’ve worked with for this project. Development on each of our vocals takes a long time, so we are excited to finally move toward a public phase for our newest vocalist. Please look forward to more information on him soon!

and from “NYL physical editions, future projects, AES Show, and more - October 2025”:
As always, we are committed to bringing Synthesizer V users voices that are unique and provide a characteristic sound that can’t be found anywhere else. The three of us hope users can look forward to our next Tone Chroma vocal, which we will announce in due time. […] From October 23rd to 24th, Eclipsed Sounds will be exhibiting at the Audio Engineering Society (AES) Show in Long Beach, California! […] If you happen to be attending the event, feel free to stop by and say hi. If you ask, we can show you a sneak peak of our upcoming vocalist!

many French classic singers (Aznavour, Bécaud, Trenet, etc.) match that nostalgic, charismatic profile. This fits the speculations

Whatever the voice, I hope it will allow enough settings to achieve something more neutral than those mentioned. Because creating something original and contemporary with voices like Trenet, Becaud, or Edith Piaf… is going to be complicated :face_with_peeking_eye:

Well, at this point (I can’t wait any longer for a French voice), even President Macron’s voice would suffice!!! :joy:

I just noticed this:

The first mention of “Phase 2" from Eclipsed Sounds within a newsletter is in “**Eclipsed Sounds August-September Newsletter 2024”

”**In addition to the last member of the Starry Court, I also have to mention our “Phase 2” project.”

and it came out 6 months later, in March.
The new Tone Chroma voice was first mentioned in the October newsletter. 6 months after October is April, which fits my April 2026 predicted time.

Look at how Spanish was developped:

November 24, 2023 - Experimental Spanish support added to one voicebank
December 18, 2023 - Spanish support added to most, but not all voicebanks (Kasane Teto was one of the voicebanks that didn’t have Spanish support, but all Dreamtonics vocals did)
April 4, 2024 - Spanish support added to all voicebanks. The ones that received Spanish support in December got a slight pronunciation upgrade.

So we could expect something similar with French:
late January 2026 (coïncides with NAMM 2026) - Experimental French support added to one voicebank (I think it’s either going to be Ritchy or this new Tone Chroma voicebank)
early March 2026 - French support added to most, but not all voicebanks. All Dreamtonics vocals will gain the update, and so will some other SynthV banks, but a few will be excluded.
April 2026 - French support added all voicebanks. The ones that will have received French support in December will receive a slight pronunciation upgrade.
summer 2026 - An update will be issued to fix French pronunciation, mirroring the v201 update from June 2025 that fixed pronunciation bugs in many voicebanks.

Many independent clues converge on the idea that French is most likely to be added around April 2026. This is not confirmed, but very likely. I am good at predicting, as earlier in September I accurately predicted the updates in late 2025 that would lead up to French release in April.

Will the new French voicebank be in blue? That makes sense… Blue is one of the colors in the French flag, the French national sports teams are often nicknamed “Les Bleus”, and on many world maps, France is conventionally represented in blue.

I could totally imagine a voicebank depicted as a tall Frenchman wearing an elegant blue suit. Here is a similar clothing style to what I’m imagining.

YOOO LET’S GOOO I FOUND A CLUE, HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT:

The release date.

The 2.2.0 betas were released in late November. If it was a normal update, 2.2.0 would have been probably released by now. This delay makes me feel like @Dreamtonics is busy doing something big and important. Since many clues are here, it makes me think that the big project @Dreamtonics is busy working on, is a phoneme set and a G2P dictionary for French support. If this is true, it means one of these three things:

a) 2.2.0 will be released in January alongside this new voicebank, on a date that probably coïncides with NAMM 2026. - This update will add French support for the voicebank and will make it usable (without a functional “French” language option, the voicebank won’t work properly)
b) 2.2.0 will be released in December, with the French dictionary already included in it, so the new voicebank, if properly released, will already work in the new update. - This update will be an update, that can make the voicebank work properly with the correct French language option.
c) 2.2.0 will be released in December, but the French dictionary will be added in a later update, like 2.2.1 or 2.3.0 - This is much less likely, given that @Dreamtonics seems to be very busy currently, and that new languages are added in x.x.0 updates so a 2.2.1 French release is much less likely than a 2.2.1 bugfix for a French language option already added in 2.2.0

French is a language with spelling rules more complicated than Korean or Spanish (stuff like liaison, oral and nasal vowels with remarkably tiny differences in spelling but huge difference in pronunciation, dialectal phonemes that could come with a toggle option similar to Spanish’s “use European pronunciation”), so it makes sense that @Dreamtonics would be very busy designing a dictionary suited for this language.

another valuable thing.

dialectal phonemes that could come with a toggle option similar to Spanish’s “use European pronunciation”

What dialects are you referring to? AFAIK, there are some African dialects of French that pronounce the suffix -ent, as in “mangent” and “peuvent” for examples, as an /ɑ̃/, rather than being silent as in European French. Is that what you’re referring to?

i’m referring to these:

as for the -ent as /ɑ̃/ in Africa, I’ve never heard of it.

Hello,

All this information is interesting and gives hope.

I think Dreamtonics has every reason to accelerate the preparation of as many languages as possible, since a new VST Voices (Omnivocal) is now integrated by default into Cubase (since version 15).

I just acquired it a few days ago, and even in Beta, it’s already very impressive! Not only is the result already up to par (there are videos on YouTube comparing the two systems with similar results despite Omnivocal having less extensive voice customization), but the fact that the tool is natively integrated into Cubase (developed by Yamaha based on Vocaloid) greatly simplifies its use compared to Synthesizer.

And when you consider the “power” that the Yamaha group (owner of Steinberg) can deploy, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a large number of languages added quickly (currently English and Japanese).

Watch out, Dreamtonics… the competition could be fierce. In my case, I’m waiting to see which one will offer French first to know whether or not I invest in Synthesizer 2, or not.

I’ve already shared my thoughts recently in the web (And what I wrote naming one of the developers, for me also concerns @Dreamtonics ) and yes, Italian, French and Portuguese have actually already been released.

We are now finalizing all the little details that an initial project brings with it, if we are talking about improvements to be made. :

“Here are my personal thoughts on #Cubase15, a new UPDATE of a #DAW that has already been very functional itself.
Among the many new features, the Beta version of #Omnivocal has been introduced, an internal voice synthesis plugin from the developers of #Vocaloid, which follows in its footsteps (under a new guise and with new features) following developments on the scene, with giant strides being made by significantly smaller companies that have only recently ventured into the role that YAMAHA itself had undertaken many years ago, only to then seem to abandon it or at least not follow it with dedicated attention.
This made me think that a MULTINATIONAL company like YAMAHA would surely have no reason to feel competition from small companies advancing in the vocal synth sector, such as the group of young developers at TIMEDOMAIN .
However, this sudden move to re-enter the scene, even directly in the form of a plugin within a very popular DAW, means that something important is happening.
It means that the “newcomers” at #ACEStudio have managed to make a significant mark in a relatively short time.
Their response to Vocaloid and the speed of development must have somehow awakened “the big players” to return.
What speaks in favor of acestudio.ai is the variety of implementations in a single plugin, with a multitude of vocal “colors” and musical instruments to grow over time. The addition of foreign languages to the program, such as Italian, French, and others, will be their great strength, and it is important that they be introduced soon.
This will help them strengthen their presence in this fertile market and keep up with, if not a step above, even the “multinationals.”

I highly recommend taking a look at https://lnkd.in/enezZPgu
to secure both a trial period and the purchase of a plugin or standalone license from ACE Studio and discover the immense potential it offers as an excellent tool for songwriting, music production, and, last but not least, video editing.

Not really what people are expecting on this post, since it’s yet another language recorded in English. However, I also seem to have read elsewhere that recordings are underway, or have already been made, in five languages, with this Mr. Mick Cori. That’s why I say any presumption we have in thinking we can know what will happen in the near future will be disillusioned. We must let them do their thing.

Well, it’s done. I’ve just switched to the competitor Ace Studio, for the part that interests me most: French text-to-sing

After a few hours of use, I must say I’m very pleasantly surprised. French is well represented in several languages, and the quality is very high (for example, the female voice, Felicia, but there are several).

I’m somewhat embarrassed to say this here, but Ace Studio is quite impressive in terms of efficiency. The user interface is good, the solution is fast, and it offers a multitude of features, both for writing a voice track and for other functions like stem separation (it does a very, very good job, I must admit, compared to the very expensive Steinberg solution I’ve been using until now, Spectra Layers).

I haven’t tried everything yet; there are some features that intrigue me, like the voice-to-instrument transformation (I’m skeptical and think it’s a gimmick, but I’ll have to check), but in any case, I have to admit… it’s generally impressive. And the integration into my workflow and Cubase is seamless.

For months I’ve been dreaming of finally being able to compose and write in French, for months I’ve been waiting for at least one French voice on Synthesizer (which is why I haven’t switched to V2 yet), and now my dream is coming true, elsewhere.

And what’s more, it’s painless and easy, because once again their solution (Ace) is really well-designed, flexible, fast, well-thought-out, and efficient.

For those interested, I’ll post a more in-depth review here once I’ve gotten to grips with this solution and tested all the features.

Thanks AIeDZmusicProd for the tip! This end of 2025 is bringing me a very pleasant surprise!!! With Christmas approaching, I must admit, it’s perfect timing

I’m not really comfortable talking about a competing (or complementary?) product, but anyway… Furthermore, it’s difficult to find information about the French language on their website. Even in this forum, in previous posts, I read “Several” and another:

“introduced soon” !! ?? !!
So how many singers exists now with french (with no english accent)?

Yes in the meantime they’ve been introduced… I can’t tell about the French and the Portuguese but as for the Italian I know they are made in collaboration with Native Speaker Interpreters as two of the Italian voices were provided by me. So I think the same goes for French and Portuguese.

Without a registered user account, I believe there’s only one voice in the demos, and indeed it’s not easy to find because it doesn’t specify “French” next to it: Felicia, if I remember correctly, singing Édith Piaf.

I can confirm that there are at least five singers that can sing in French, but I think it’s more (around ten; I’ll check, I’m not at my computer right now).

These voices are also capable of singing in other languages (Italian, Spanish, etc.).

In fact, there seems to have been a very recent release (early December) where they specify that “Verse 5” is available. This Verse or Verset 5 seems to be, if I understand correctly, a new expansion of phonemes and dictionaries (perhaps, I’m not an expert). In this case, the voices that are fluent in French, Spanish, Italian, etc., use this famous Verse 5. Those that use Verse 4 cannot be used in French (for example).

Otherwise, yes, I can confirm, without accents. I spent hours and hours on Synthesizer V, also with the help of AI trained on phoneme dictionaries of all languages, trying to get a decent result in French using all possible phonetic and multilingual combinations. But nothing worked, it never sounded really good, even if, for a demo, it might have been enough if you weren’t too demanding. Now, with Ace Studio, it’s instantly true French! Without accents.

Moreover, there’s something intriguing that I can only explain by imagining that the AI plays a role behind the scenes: for example, I produced a first draft by simply entering the notes of a melody in MIDI, then I added the French words. On first listen, it was already incredibly impressive (a world away from what I could achieve with Synthesizer and hours of fine-tuning).

However, there were a couple of passages, a couple of words, where the pronunciation wasn’t great (for example, the verb “m’effile.” There’s no accent on the “e” because there are two "f"s after it. So the pronunciation wasn’t perfect). Well, believe it or not, after a while, the voice finally pronounced the verb perfectly. I suspect the system is doing some kind of AI-assisted reinforcement in real time, perhaps taking the meaning of the text itself into account? As if the system eventually understood that it was the verb “Effiler.”

Sorry, this might sound convoluted, but I have no other explanation because I haven’t changed anything, except to keep adding more verses (words), which systematically reworks the voice engine in a way (sorry, I’m not an expert, I’m just trying to explain).

Anyway, it works really well. One last point: Verse 5 is indeed very recent because it’s still listed as a Beta version. Best regards.
