French is coming to SynthV in 2025-2026? [IMPLIED, NOT STRICTLY CONFIRMED YET]

I recently contacted Dreamtonics to ask if a new language will be added in the future, specifically one that contains uvular consonants, such as French, German, or Arabic. They did not say what language is coming, and also didn’t say anything about its phonemes, only saying a vague statement saying that they are “actively working to expand our language support”. However, some users on a different thread on this forum had speculated, that the language is French.

One user pointed to the fact that “at a IMSTA FESTA master class […] Joshua Weinfeld (host of the class who represented Dreamtonics) stated that Korean and French cross-synthesis was in the works.” Korean was already released, so French seems likely. The user pointed out that “it may take them a bit, though, due to the coding and different phonemes.” He estimated the time of French release as fall or winter of 2025, based on the fact that Korean has been teased since September 22 and has released on March 21.

Another user said: “I’ve been thinking a lot about the possibility of a French voice coming to Synthesizer V, and honestly, I feel like it might be closer than we think. […] Eclipsed Sounds released phonetic dictionaries for German and Italian—but not for French. And yet, the demand for French is clearly much higher in the community. So my guess is that those dictionaries are just stopgaps for German and Italian users, while a proper native French voice might already be in development […]. I also have a hunch that the upcoming French voice could be part of the TONE CHROMA series. Given how expressive and artistic that series is, I can totally imagine them introducing a character with a voice inspired by Édith Piaf […]. That kind of retro French sound tends to resonate well with American audiences, and since Eclipsed Sounds is US-based, it would make a lot of sense stylistically. Another thought: maybe there’s a kind of division of labor going on between Dreamtonics and Eclipsed Sounds. Dreamtonics seems to focus on Asian voices (Japanese, Chinese, Korean), while Eclipsed Sounds handles the Western ones (English, Spanish, and possibly French soon). That would be a smart way to specialize and expand the voice library more efficiently. […] If a French voice drops soon, I won’t be surprised at all.”

A third user talks about unconfirmed rumors, that claim that Dreamtonics allegedly confirmed French on August 30, 2025, and will be officially released at NAMM 2026 in January. He said that “French listed as a priority among new languages (along with Korean). The current engine already supports several languages […], which suggests a solid infrastructure for adding French.” He estimates the time of official announcement as “January 23-25, 2026, with a possible beta or demo as early as December 2025”. He also conjectures that the language might be officially released circa March-April 2026.

I also have a clue: Just as Spanish was first added in 24 November 2023 to SAROS (a preëxisting voicebank) and then added to all the others, there exists a preëxisting voicebank voiced by a French singer (Ritchy), then maybe French will be added soon to the Ritchy voicebank, perhaps in November-December 2025, or maybe sometime in 2026.

Putting all of this together, it’s fascinating that so many official clues point in the same direction, strongly implying (but not yet 100% confirming) that French will be coming soon.

This is a copy and paste answer to when I once, long time ago, I asked for Italian language, so I’d say we should be cautious with any expectations about which languages will be released in the near future. For everyone, we just have to wait, as I’ve been told in person that the language implementation is underway, but there are still many priorities.

I think I’m leaning towards early 2026

That statement contains an ‘unconfirmed confirmation’ by that most reliable of sources, a user.

I agree with @AleDzMusicProd that we will simply have to wait and see where this journey goes next.

Why? Any clues? I think the clues for French are stronger than Italian

Also, notice how the updates are made: 2.0.0 was in March, and 2.1.0 was in June, and now 2.1.2 is probably coming in October. Continuing that pattern, 2.2.0 will be releasing near December, and 2.3.0 will be made in March or April 2026, which neatly matches up with the user-speculated date of French release. Note that 2.2.0 is just the 2nd “major update” that starts with 2, so there isn’t much to go on, meaning that things get really speculative very quickly and the dates I extrapolated might not match the actual dates. But if they are, 2.3.0 can very well be the update that French will be released in. If it’s true, then 2.4.0 can be another update that refines pronunciation bugs in the French sounds, and would be released in summer 2026, or perhaps early autumn, just as 2.1.0 was an update that fixed bugs in pronunciation of all 6 languages, as the v2 voicebanks were "really “fresh & new”. Keep in mind that this is just speculation, and it might not line up with reality at all.

Who can tell… Let’s all wait and see. Everything will surely happen, in its own time.

I was thinking of any feature that might be added before French language support. I noticed new voicebank production stopped when Synthesizer V 2 was announced, and the number of voicebanks produced now is still relatively few. I think that new voicebanks might only start piling up as rapidly as they were in 2024 when most of the voicebanks we have now will get their own synthv version, which is still happening. That might take ‘till December, which would theoretically place French release sometime in 2026.

How many covers have been uploaded here in French as compared to Italian and German ??? If they are looking at actual user interest by way of production … !

I think there’s a lot of them

I searched and didn’t found many. All what I found is about 3 years old.

My humble attempt is from about 7 months ago.

Yeah I know, I’ve been told that it’s more Canadian than French, but my source was Celine Dion and we all know where she comes from

Nonetheless, in all my humbles, I would say almost nothing else has arrived to sound so near as French as this attempt that I’m going to reshare here with you.

I already heard it, and I’m making my own version.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been waiting months for at least one voice in French!

In fact, I still haven’t invested in the new version of Synthesizer for this reason. I love this software, I find it very powerful and effective, but… I’m stuck in my projects because there’s no French language option.

So, I hope you’re right and that a first French version will be available soon (and I also hope it will be more current and modern than Edith Piafs! I can’t really see myself doing pop or rap with Piaf voice!) lol

let’s revisit the Édith Piaf voice conjecture. Look at how the first native Spanish voice, GALENAIA, is for opera, but has separate vocal modes for a regular, non-opera style (Warm and Nasal), I can expect it being similar for the French voice. If the main voice will indeed be inspired by Édith Piaf, I believe there will be separate vocal modes for a more modern voice.

2018 - synthv first made, supported 3 languages - English, Japanese, and Chinese. each voicebank can only sing in 1 language
2020 - old software retired, replaced with new, no new languages added
December 23, 2021 - Cross-Lingual Synthesis (XLS) feature added - you can now choose your track to be in whatever language you like, but the notes in each track are limited to 1 language per track.
November 10, 2022 - Note-level Cross-Lingual Synthesis feature added - you are no longer limited to 1 language per track, each note can now have its own language, but you are still limited to the languages available in SynthV
April 18, 2023 - Cantonese added
November 24, 2023 - Experimental Spanish support added to one voicebank
December 18, 2023 - Spanish support added to most, but not all voicebanks
April 4, 2024 - Spanish support added to all voicebanks
September 12, 2024 - software last updated before retirement in March
November 23, 2024 - Korean and French announced by a representative
March 21, 2025 - old software retired, new software released. The new software includes all 5 languages, as well as a new, sixth language - Korean. XLS pronunciation accuracy degraded, introduced strongly accented pronunciation
June 18, 2025 - new voicebanks from March received a closed beta update (only available to download for a limited time) - the update improved the pronunciation so it’s now as good as before.
July 23, 2025 - the update is now available as a full update, pronunciation improved. No new languages added yet

until 2023, it was 3 languages for 5 years, no progress made, but from 2023 onwards, I see a clear yearly progression:
2023 - 4 languages
2024 - 5 languages
2025 - 6 languages
2026 - 7 languages?

also, the new languages were all added in the early spring (Cantonese and Spanish in April, Korean in March), so April 2026 (or perhaps late March) is a plausible timeframe of French release.

Since each language coïncides with a major update, and I predicted in an earlier post in this thread that the extrapolated time of the 2.3.0 update release neatly matches the time of French release (March-April 2026). This also makes my point stronger as many official clues neatly line up, suggesting French will indeed be added circa March-April 2026, even though no official confirmation was given. I also think an official demo in late 2025(November-December, maybe January 2026) is likely(as there was already mention about French from an insider all the way back in 2024). I’m less certain about it as there isn’t much clues, but I think it’s likely because there was a Spanish experimental and Korean demo recordings from the UNI voicebank, when they were tested before full release. If my January 2026 prediction is correct, that coïncides with NAMM 2026, which is in January. And I’m good at predictions, in September I predicted that 2.1.2 will release in October, and it did in fact release, in October.

I also noticed, that that Tone Chroma hunch I talked about earlier, seems to fit with some details.

On January 19, 2025, Eclipsed Sounds published a video on YouTube announcing that Phase 2 would be named "Tone Chroma", with more information to be provided later through a new webpage that was opened for it.[21]This new webpage, apart from embedding the YouTube video above, invited viewers to visit this year'sNAMM Show, whose listing for Eclipsed Sounds stated that the company would reveal new vocal products (very likely at least a prototype of at least one of the upcoming Tone Chroma voice databases) alongside their existing ones.[22] The YouTube video briefly highlighted seven colors during seven separate timestamps: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, and magenta; while red and violet were given the codenames R-01 and V-01 on two teasers published on January 21[23][24](and two days later formally given the namesHXVOCandGALENAIA),[25][26] the vocals corresponding to the other five colors have not yet been revealed or named.

I think one of the 5 colors is the French voicebank, as that fits the earlier guess of a Tone Chroma voicebank. I think the voicebank might have some “super French-sounding name” as French stuff always does (baguette, croissant, Yves Saint-Laurent, Louis Vuitton - these are all French, and they sound very French)

Here is a mockup screenshot I made. This is not real, it’s photoshopped based on what I imagine the French voicebank might look like. I largely based it off of that Édith Piaf idea. As for the name Éclat, it was given by ChatGPT when discussing some “super French-sounding names”. There were several suggestions, but I chose Éclat because it not only sounds similar to Édith, but also starts with the letter “É” which to me looks very French. Also that yellox thing is not real, I made it up to fill in the empty space. The name is just from some Polish eye drops thing, I chose it because it suggests a yellow color, one of the unknown colors.
