Note: Encountering slow startup? Windows and macOS will validate the integrity of a newly installed program, so this is expected for the first time. If the issue persists after the second attempt to start the program, please see #Reporting Issues below.

About This Beta

This beta introduces the AAX-ARA plugin, and we’re inviting users to test the new ARA integration with Pro Tools before the final release.

Important Note: Starting with version 2.1.0, there will be two AAX plugins:

  • The standard AAX plugin (available since version 1 Synthesizer V Studio Pro)
  • The new AAX-ARA plugin. This requires Pro Tools 2024.10 or later.

Continuing from 2.1.0b1 (posted May 8th), this second beta stabilizes the new Pitch Control Points Mode and includes fixes for several user-reported issues.

Reporting Issues

Please submit bug reports through our support form. Please specify version “2.1.0b2” in your ticket:

Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro 2.1.0b2

New Features

  • Added full ARA support for Pro Tools (requires Pro Tools 2024.10).

Feature Improvements

  • Improved the visibility of the piano roll’s grid.
  • When the ARA plugin’s window has insufficient vertical space, collapse the menu bar into the program icon.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed crashes when loading the plugin in Ableton on macOS.
  • Fixed crashes after undoing pitch control points deletion when there are new points created due to an area selection (from 2.1.0b1).
  • Fixed crashes when loading a corrupted voice file; show an error message instead.
  • Fixed crashes and timeline mismatch when using the ARA plugin in a REAPER project that starts from a negative time or a negative bar.
  • Fixed voice download failure on Windows due to certain system configurations.
  • Fixed a misconfiguration in the macOS installer that allows installing the plugins without the standalone, which would result in a broken installation.
  • Fixed unwanted re-rendering that happens when the playhead passes through a tempo mark (from 2.1.0b1).
  • Fixed audio from the ARA plugin being routed to a different track after reopening a saved project in Studio One 6 and above.
  • Fixed rendering getting stuck when the lyrics contains archaic Japanese characters such as “ゑ” and “ゐ”.
  • Fixed slow responses when using smart pitch controls on a group that is linked to another group.

Working well here - windows11, Studio One 7.1.1 on laptop,

No issues. I dont do anything “edgy”, very ordinary workflow really, just ARA.

Good luck to any that try!

I am also having a good experience with the Beta on Windows 11 in Studio One 7.1.1 using the ARA functionality.

@Dreamtonics:

I can also give you the first positive feedback to your second beta V2.1.0 b2:

  • The loading time for the standalone version is now ultra-fast. Thanks for that.
  • For the plugin version, the SV2 ARA bridge finally works again as expected within Cubase 14 Pro, even with tempo changes. No sync problems with the song tempo anymore, and no more SV2 audio stutter due to late buffering (or whatever was the problem in the first beta).

What still doesn’t work for me (Intel i9 12900k PC running latest Win11 24H2):
SV2 still crashes everytime (both, standalone & plugin versions) whenever moving a voice group between different SV2 tracks. The crash mainly happens after the first move has already been done, e.g. when the group has been already moved to an empty track and is then moved back to its original track position. The SV2 standalone version just quits without any warning, and for the SV2 plugin version, Cubase Pro 14 immediately reports that SV2 has had a problem. Subsequently, the Cubase application cannot be terminated manually anymore, because the SV2 ASA bridge has hung itself and cannot be terminated without invoking Windows task manager. I hope that helps to limit the problem. Again, it seems to have nothing to do with fast movements of groups between tracks; it simply always happens in my case, no matter what.

If you get that mentioned problem also fixed, I’d be really more than happy.

Hello @B.Minor !
We would like to know more details about your case, could you please send an email to support@dreamtonics.com with these same details so we can give a more personalized feedback to you?
Thank you and we highly appreciate your cooperation!

Yes, generally a support ticket is a better practice.
I have never reproduced this case of B.Minor (in Win11, I9) but I am not sure I would do exactly the same thing.

I will do so. Thanks in advance.

@Dreamtonics:

As I have also mentioned my reported issue here in this thread, I’d like to thank you once again for your great support - even on the weekend - finding the cause of the problem and providing a fix in your next official app/plugin release! :+1:
