Synth v 2.3 updated and insX

i wonder why sv2.3 is taking so long. I can dig instrument x taking center stage right now however it seems more appropriate that sv2.3 updated to launch along side of it. Especially since x still needs some work.

Instrument x is nice, realistic sounds and pretty fast until more than one player is used. Then it slows and still only sounds like 2 or 3 players no matter how many you assigne plus slight phase issue. The most difficult thing is the articulation editor floating in the work area can not be moved out or closed (at least my experience).

Would like to see both SV2 and InsX more streamline for DAW like dragging midi from DAW to track it only asks for new track or new project rather than placing in track already assigned. A small thing yet could make working a little smoother. Overall SV2 is awesome (voice quality could use repair) and InsX sounds great but feel pretty limited. Has anyone else experienced insX yet. Barely any info, tutorials or anything showing what it is fully capable of. That’s interesting

I’m liking your style, @Stanlee this is the kinda discussion that needs to be brought up the dev and/or marketing team.

What Synth v 2.3 are you talking about?

It’s the beta release announced on the forum

:+1: thanks B. While waiting for update to sv2 are you planning on trying insX

Nope. I have zero interest. I come for the SINGING!

I had thought that the rendering issue is more or less solved. But yesterday, working on a piece with for voices SATB and piano, it was painful again. Endless rendering time after you change one syllable, one note length, one … How will it be when I try to work with a 60, 70 piece orchestra in Instrument X?

yes, I can see myself getting the strings shortly. Solo strings are the one remaining area where even the best sample libraries still don’t cut it and I’ve been in general pretty impressed with what I’ve tried here – although their strength certainly seems to be in heartfelt legato music in my quartets rather than faster sections where I’m not sure there are enough articulations to cope to eliminate a rather brash feel (so I may finish up rendering slow movements with Instrument X and faster ones with one of the sample libraries, though I’m sure there will be room for experimentation here).

This sort of thing doesn’t really work for sections – especially trying to emulate a full orchestra so in that department, (and specialised playing techniques) sample libraries have little to worry about so far.

Yeah, the articulations are sparse and ensemble is far from ready to make an entire section for any instrument. Hopefully they will fix on next update.

Definitely ! I still don’t understand why there are apparently so few of us thinking the same. We really need to insist more so that hopefully Dreamtonics will finally read and hear us !
Not everyone wants or needs Instrument X. As far as I’m concerned, while I understand that it can be interesting to some users, I absolutely don’t need virtual instruments, and I really want Dreamtonics to focus on vastly improving Synthesizer V (features, pronunciation of newly released languages, plus some workflow issues and bugs) and finally release a proper 2.3 version.
Let’s get heard !

Would be good if they read these posts though

Yeah, well now that I know this is more being used like a Subreddit user community type thing and not like Image Line’s message forum where the devs come in and talk about stuff, I know that email is how to communicate with them. And that’s totally fine

I’m not used to how forums operate so if I go off topic that’s why

If you’ve got bug reports for SynthV, there’s a mechanism for submitting them.

Insisting that Dreamtonics retract IX - which they already released - simply isn’t realistic.

If you check out this thread on VI-Control, you’ll see people are well informed of the limitations.

Despite this, there’s a lot of interest in using IX, because it does what traditional sample libraries can’t do.

As I already wrote, I don’t have any interest in Instrument X. What I want and need is Dreamtonics to focus on finishing SynthV 2.3. Not sure why you pretend I “insist that DT retract IX”…

Well, that’s fair since I did put words in your mouth.

I don’t know how much Dreamtonics actually reads this forum, and they don’t really telegraph what’s going on behind the scenes. Products arrive pretty much without any pre-announcement, and releases get done when they get done.

Personally, I’d like to see some attention given to Vocoflex, since it’s been over a year since the last update, and it’s at 1.0.3. But Dreamtonics seems to have their own timeline.

I suspect their focus right now is on not letting ACE Studio get too much of the VI market.

Seems like caring about what the people are buying and want should be the focus.

Loyalty maybe fickle but it lasts longer then pop fizzle and keeping up with a so called leader

If I’m not mistaken synth V is DTs flag ship. i wouldn’t know their name if it weren’t for synth v.

It’s their product so…

I get why people are keen to see 2.3 land. Dreamtonics is a small team with several products, and they’ve publicly described Instrument X as completing a planned trilogy alongside Synthesizer V and Vocoflex — which to me reads like SV stays central to their plans rather than being sidelined. Focusing resources on one major project at a time may just be how a small team keeps quality high, so my personal guess is that once the IX launch work settles, attention will return to SV. Hoping we see more progress soon.

Let be honest, InsX is just another dreamtonics attempt to grab another niche market and put their focus away from SynthV, especially since that vocoflex and voicepeak has barely got any notable update beside bugfix and minor feature. because it didn’t get the attention SynthV got.

InsX is just gonna get released and get small update after a few months because there a little to not userbase. and honestly, to me, It doesn’t sound very impressive after trying the French horn trial.

Can you give me your source for this ‘fact’? For any of your ‘facts’?
