I totally agree with you.
By the way: there should be a new category “Instrument X” besides “Synthesizer V” now in this forum.
You can’t play the instruments real-time???
Wow. What a omission.
You can play a whole orchestra in real time?
Seriously impressed!
To me, this is just an another product that dreamtonics will release and leave behind after a few months because it doesn’t get much attraction as Synth V 2 (see vocoflex and Voicepeak, they got barely any notable update beside bug fix and minor feature)
By the way, It sound alsmot the same as using Soundfont/VST so i’m not really impressed by Instrument X
Bought essential version. Here’s what I want for future updates.
- vibrato rate control, it seems like using ‘frequency’ can not slow down the vib rate.
- sound improvement, less artifacts.
- mono, poly mode piano roll editing. Because when I adjust legato note it’s not snapping like SV2. Most of the time I use as one solo instrument, no divisi.
- link mic position as default, panning in close mic (or all group mic).
- more different in ‘performance direction’ maybe
- timbre change slider like SV2, so it can make like second vln.
- Can import midi with cc automation or at least modwheel.
Bug,
- tremolo on strings sometimes not working
Overall it’s not bad at all, it can make convincing sound faster than using SWAM, for regular melody line.
Right now I want Dreamtonics to focus on solo than ensemble, there’s plenty good ens samples out there, but not soloist.
And I want them to focus on improving new languages in SynthV, but I’m REALLY afraid they’re just going to ditch the whole voice synths for good, and leave SynthV, Vocoflex and Choir collection as they are with no updates or improvements. They didn’t communicate AT ALL since SynthV 2.3.0tp1, they don’t reply to messages, they still haven’t released a proper version ever since, leaving out bugs, crashes and imperfections. They switched to Choir and now Instruments… They really don’t seem to care about users, more about their wallets. And that stinks a lot.

Yeah I wish they fix their bugs too. I reported some small bugs SV2 and they said it’s not a bug. But it just happen in v2.3.0, it never happen in previous version. How can this not be a bug?
v.2.3 is not even a final release. If you need stablity, stop using beta versions.
It has artifact in sound in stable release, and it is fixed in beta, but also having another bug.
What’s the artifact in the stable release?
high harmonic noise like bird chipping (low volume). https://youtu.be/4Ye88jXFLdQ
I already reported and they acknowledged and fixed in v2.3
Uhm. Don’t be rude. For starters I own voice banks that I use all the time that won’t work unless I have the 2.3 beta installed. Secondly, this isn’t about stability for me, this is about principle: I’ve got more virtual orchestral vsts than I care to deal with..and sure, I would absolutely assume their modeling synthesis is more advanced compared to other modeling virutal instruments on the market…but the fact remains that I only purchased any Dreamtonics products for the Vocal synths alone. Nothing else. And while I completely understand the business model behind wanting to offering symphonic instruments besides vocals (which I’m sure is about competing with the likes of Ace Studio that offers a pretty ok Vocal synth AND AI generated music using eitht your humming or Midi notes), the fact is…they prioritized a new instrument over completing the final release of Synthesizer V 2.3. to me this sounds like the Vocal Synths aren’t going to be a priority as much as trying to get all these other non-vocal instruments quickly shipped out to the market. And in which case…well..that would suck. So again, don’t think you know someone or you know someone’s reasoning behind their grievances. I spent a ton of money on Dreamtonics in good Faith because of how marvelous their vocal synths. Not for some basic B**** Violins and Cellos.
What on earth are you talking about.
hey, I like their Instrument X tho. Especially for using as soloist. Not many VIs sample out there nail it as soloist. If you put more detail editing it can make sound good easier than some physical modelling. Me, as a film composer I also like that they release this. It’s also ground breaking for VI. But also agree with you on hoping they can fix SV2 bugs. And I wish they will because it has huge customers base.
Check out my sample for InstX on flute, oboe, horns. Their winds is really good when you put some effort. https://youtu.be/nv-d2GmphcE
No, I’m sure it’s fantastic. But I’ll keep saying this until I’m blue in the face: the fact that they released a new non-vocal synth instrument before they even released the final Synth V 2.3 is what’s got my knickers up in a bunch. I don’t care about Orchestral instruments in the least, but I totally get why they would want to release this for the sake of competition and putting their own Dreamtomic stank on the evergreen type of instruments. But a maneuver of releasing a more basic B**** type of instrument vs finalIzing the latest update with their magical singing voices bothers me. I’ve seen changes like this happen in companies where they start out one way which is unique and amazing, but then change course almost over night and become just another “meh”, followed by neglecting their original release. I’m not sure if you ever heard of this little company named Native Instruments (joking. I know you have) But when they came roaring out with Reaktor it was mind blowing. Now that’s all being neglected for boring AF Kontakt library junk. And I mean…Battery 4? Hello? It’s been over 15 years. Sure, Reaktor 6 till works along side Battery 4? But for how long? And for God SAKES I do not need another symphonic Kontakt library.
Agree with you and I just rant recently about many good companies starting to go enshitification route. Just fix their bugs please. NI, Spitfire, Cubase, Arturia, bla bla. In the last 2 months I sent support email, bug report to about 10 companies.
also interesting are the numerous AI reporting requirements (e.g. EU) that force even sound tracks to reveal if they used ANY AI products or tools in the making, and thus impairs any copyright options. so buying into any full-on AI products going forward basically means your work is no longer copyrightable in the EU and soon the US as well…oh, they may allow “tools” and “fx” to be considered OK though.
i think too many companies jump onto the “look we’re AI!” bandwagon and will soon be trying backtrack that marketing soon (i suspect) esp if they’re merely algorithmic. same with the whole “e-” and “i-” (well, Apple is the exception) naming of everything LOL.
Did you read the previous reply above mine, Bryce?
Oh okay. I EQ that out… I didn’t even realize it was a known bug. LOL.
