1- Choir Voices collections: Choir-voice-collections

2- Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro 2.2.0

New Features

  • Added support for choir voices and doubling for solo voices:
    • Specify the number of voices and spacing between voices in the Voice panel under “Unison”.
    • Added sliders under Notes panel to control the timing and pitch tightness among voices (supported by choir voices only).
    • Added a new right-click menu command for tracks that allows splitting unisons into smaller groups or individual voices.
  • Added Effects panel and an effect chain (spatialization, equalization, compression, reverberation) to each track.
  • Added musical scale settings to note groups:
    • Turn on scale visualization in the piano roll to see key and background highlighting based on the selected musical scale.
    • Alternatively, set the scale in the Voice panel for all selected groups.
  • Added project import support for MusicXML formats (.mxl, .xml, .musicxml).
  • Added render cache for reducing the memory footprint and avoiding re-renders when opening a saved project.
    • Note: projects need to be re-saved to enable caching.
  • Added options to Render panel for bypassing tracks’ gain/pan and effects during bouncing.
  • Added two sliders to the Voice panel to modulate the strength and duration of all obstruent consonants within a group.

Behavior Changes

  • Rearranged file menu options related to importing projects and instrumentals.
  • When a note ends after the right boundary of a group, truncate the note itself instead of truncating the output sound.

Feature Enhancements

  • Replaced the existing rendering progress visualization in the piano roll with a more info-rich display in the time axis and arrangement.
  • Increased the hit area for dragging and resizing operations on notes, groups and phoneme boundaries.
  • Unified group behavior between the piano roll and arrangement to prevent overlapping groups.
  • Allow MIDI input devices to be disabled in the settings to prevent hardware conflicts.
  • Improved rendering performance on AMD Zen 4/5 processors.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed crashes when changing the tempo when using the ARA plugin in certain DAWs.
  • Fixed the plugin not reporting changes to the DAW when the externally saved project’s path has changed.
  • Fixed some rare cases of logging out despite an offline license being enabled under an intermittent internet connection.
  • Fixed changes to the settings not being saved when multiple instances of Synthesizer V Studio (e.g. both plugins and the standalone) are running at the same time.
  • Fixed the irregular order of note focus when shifting through selected notes with space/tab key while the lyrics editor is open.
  • Fixed the value display overlapping with the textbox when editing the value of a slider.
  • Fixed random crashes when moving a group to another track.
  • Fixed Voice-to-MIDI conversion results getting lost after undoing and then redoing the change in the standalone and instrument plugin.
  • Fixed the incorrect decimal padding in the project time counter when the last two digits are below 0.1 secs.
  • Fixed crashes when duplicating a track whose name starts with “+”.
  • Fixed group muting not working in ARA synced tracks.
  • Fixed failure to redo Voice-to-MIDI conversion after undoing the operation.
  • Fixed zoom ratio displayed in the parameter panel not updating when switching between Pitch Deviation, Loudness and Vibrato Envelope parameters.
  • Fixed missing Vocal Mode options when the group has a version of the voice that is not installed on the current device.
  • Fixed noises at the beginning of bounced tracks when using the plugin versions.
  • Fixed mixer parameters not properly initialized in the first few hundred milliseconds of a project during playback.
  • Fixed inability to open an SVP file by double clicking when the standalone is already running on macOS.
  • Fixed wrong opacity of the waveform when a group contains muted notes.
  • Fixed an edge case where a note can be created outside a group.
  • Fixed onboarding screen not loading when the standalone and AAX-ARA plugin are simultaneously open on Windows.
  • Fixed ARA plugin crashes when changing the tempo in Cubase under specific conditions.
  • Fixed ARA plugin crashes when deleting the time selection in Cubase.
  • Fixed dialogs centered on the wrong monitor when using the plugin on a multi-monitor setup.
  • Fixed right-click menus showing at the wrong position when using the plugin on a multi-monitor setup on Windows where each of the monitors has a different scaling factor.
  • Fixed some cases where groups could be dragged and resized past the left edge of the timeline and out of view.
  • Fixed incorrect group pasting behavior on imported projects.
  • Fixed a bug where pitch controls could not be area-selected after certain mouse dragging operations.

i just purchase some stuffs .. ahh man, really need loyalty discount right now

Wow! Wow! Wow! This could be a game changer! I’ve been trying to stack tracks from individual voices but I get horrible artefacts, and the more “singers” I try to replicate, the worse it sounds, I’ve tried plugins, manipulating exported .WAV files, but it still sounds very plastic. Hopefully the Choir Voices will work - about to download them and give them a try.

DO THEY WORK WITH EXISTING VOICES? ie can I have a Choir Voice singing the harmony parts and still use Felcia as my soloist in the same choral work?

I don’t see why not. Worst case scenario you have two instances of Synth V on two different tracks.

Yes, the Choir Voices work exactly like the existing voices - well, almost. There are some extra parameters to set and a lot of flexibility. The main thing I’ve noticed is the rendering time - I’ll be drinking a lot more coffee while I wait for rendering haha!

Just uploaded the update and I’m so excited to see the FX effects added. The choir voices now save me the time of doubling and adjusting for phase sound effects for the gospel choir songs I create. Kudos to the software team now if I can just get that gospel gritty vocal singer.

Alas, version 2 voices sound more robot and plastic than version 1 :frowning: I don’t know what the heck happened! That’s why I’m still on version 1, which sounds amazing! The best musical app of the 21st century! But not version 2… sigh But the choir demo sounds great, so I’ll download the trial and see if it’s as good as the demo.

IMHO when V2 VBs were first released, yes, I agree, they sounded worse than V1. But that was a “long” time ago, V2 have evolved a lot and they have already surpassed V1. If not in pure tone, at least in the combination of all factors: tone, pronunciation, flexibility, usability.

Curious to try the new features, hopefullyduring the weekend.

You can test them, but they look like they behave like normal “solo” voices.

You’ve now got the ability to stack v2 voices as well. The difference is that the choir voices should have more variety to the voice when you multiply them, where the “solo” voices will sound like a stack of voices, albeit with different pitch parameters.

THIS RELEASE IS TOO BUGGY TO USE! Cannot copy and paste to later in the song, notes that are deleted sound anyway. Notes not deleted will NOT sound.

This is in Logic with silicon, non-Rosetta mode. Using Choir 1.

If I can’t find a workaround, gonna ask for refund because, well, it cannot be f**king used, can it?!?

I am very interested in the new Chior voices, in particular the native English voices for contemporary music but have some questions.

Are the voices stacked by default, or can we arrange a choir ourselves?

I don’t intend to use any of the solo voices, at this stage, only these new Choir sounds, so can I use any of these voices from the Choirs, as standalone voices, or is that not the point of the libraries?

Regards

Hi, trying this and I found out a few things, which hopefully will help.

When doing copy/paste, make sure you are in “Note Editing mode” on piano roll rather than “Note creation mode”. That’s how it worked for me. Tried this on stand alone version and the keyboard shortcuts also worked. Not sure if they do when you’re running it in Logic as an AU plug in. Will check this later.

Also, I do not have Choirs so I tested it on solo voice. I don’t think it matters though?

How close are they to releasing it?

2.2.0 was released last weekend.

I downloaded the trial of choir one. When I change the voice part between Soprano, Alt, Tenor or Base: they sound almost identical. Did they not create 4 different groups of singers as in real Sopranos, real Alto’s, real Tenors and real Basses? What am I missing?

Thanks, Robert

I think you have to change the octave.

That makes sense, but altos and sopranos can be quite often in the same range. So when I change the voice part, I would expect a different quality of sound. Just trying to understand how Synth V handles this.

What we don’t get Timing and Pitch control for Unison mode for the library of voices we already own?
Variation in time an pitch are what make it sound like a real choir.

You would think they would give us that ability considering how much money we have spent on Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass voices already purchased.

Release Version 2.2 does not work for ARA in Fender Studio Pro 8.

Having tried out the choir over the last couple of days, there is no comparison between using solo singers vs. choir for choral work. In spite of the accent limitations of the choirs, they blend so beautifully in a way that solo singers don’t. Phrasing works differently, dynamics work differently. They are a whole different beast.

You can use solo voices to make a choir, and up til now, that was the only way to do it. Now we have something better. Dreamtonics haven’t taken anything away from you. In fact, they’ve given you something you didn’t have before, even if you choose to continue making up your choir from solo singers.
