Hi,
Cubase 15 crashes when I open a project that uses Synthesizer V Studio Pro
and PitchNet (by SessionLoops).
What I was doing: Nothing special - I just selected the project in the Cubase
Hub and opened it. Cubase crashed while the project was loading, apparently
when Synth V started rendering in the background. No playback or editing yet.
When I move PitchNet.vst3 out of the VST3 folder, the same project opens
normally. So the crash seems to need both plugins loaded together.
The crash is in a Synth V render thread, but the top frame is r8brain code
that lives inside the PitchNet binary:
Thread 116 Crashed:: _SVTH11
0 PitchNet double* r8b::CDSPFracInterpolator::convolve0<28>(double*) + 68
1 synthv-studio 0x154418e4c
2 synthv-studio 0x154410824
3 synthv-studio 0x15440f970
…
Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV), KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x1b087df191004010
My guess: both plugins statically link r8brain-free-src with the symbols
exported. On macOS the weak template instantiations (e.g. convolve0<28>) get
coalesced across images, so synthv-studio ends up calling PitchNet’s copy of
r8brain. If the two r8brain versions/layouts differ, this gives an invalid
memory access. If that is right, building with hidden symbol visibility
(-fvisibility=hidden) would fix it.
Environment:
- Synthesizer V Studio Pro 1.11.2 (VST3 + ARA plugin)
- PitchNet 0.7.2 (VST3)
- Cubase 15.0.5
- macOS 27.0.1, MacBook Pro M3 Max (Mac15,11), 36 GB
Is this a known issue, and is it fixed in Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro?
(I’m a Japanese user - replies in Japanese are also welcome.)
Thanks.
