Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro 2.3.0 Beta 2

Dear Users,

We are releasing the second beta for Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro 2.3.0.

Version 2.3.0 focuses on redesigning the phoneme system and expanding the language support. For more information, visit our previous posts about the Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro 2.3.0 Technical Preview and Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro 2.3.0 Beta 1.

This second beta addresses several user-reported issues following Oct 8th’s 2.3.0b1 release. We are simultaneously announcing 205b2 versions for all Dreamtonics voices, with adjustments made to the mapping between language-specific phoneme sets and standard phonetic symbols based on X-SAMPA.

Voice Update

Many new features of 2.3.0b2 require a new beta voice to function. Please enable “Beta Versions” in the Dreamtonics Product Manager, and update the voice to version 205b2.

Currently, the 205b2 voice update is only available for Dreamtonics voices. Support for partner voices will be announced at a later date.

Also note that due to changes to the phoneme symbols, the previous 205b1 voices may not function correctly in the 2.3.0b2 editor. This incompatibility affects several new phonemes introduced in 2.3.0b1.

Phoneme Candidate Window

To streamline phoneme editing, we added a phoneme candidate window that hovers above the input caret. The floating window lists phonemes that are closest to the current phoneme under edit, matching results by both spelling and examples.

205b1 Listening Test Results

Thank you to everyone who participated in our blind test comparing selected 205b1 voice models with their version 201 counterparts.

Overall preferences were split nearly evenly. Out of 724 total submissions across 62 participants, 375 responses favored 205b1, while 349 preferred 201. This difference is not statistically significant (p = 0.35). Breaking down the submissions by voice or by song did not reveal any significant differences either.

Qualitative feedback, however, highlighted interesting and nuanced tonal differences between the versions. 205b1 is more frequently characterized as “cleaner”, “fuller”, but to some ears “muffled”, while 201 is more frequently described as “brighter”, “rawer”, but to some degree “noisy”. Preferences appear to vary based on individual taste.

Based on these insights, our approach for the 205b2 voices focuses primarily on addressing mispronunciations, which tends to be reported by both sides, while preserving a tonal quality close to the stable 201 release.

We welcome further feedback on 205b2 voices. If you notice tonal or timbral differences between versions, project files or screenshots that demonstrate them are especially helpful, since they allow our developers to reproduce and investigate the issue directly.

Thanks for the update !
The phoneme candidate window shows up after a few seconds ; it would be better if it appeared instantly.
The French “i” and “r” phonemes still sound too English.

Version 201 sounds homogenized, overly processed and does not faithfully reflect the voice. While 205b2 is still an improvement, it could be made better by moving towards a sound profile closer to version 200.

Uni is OK now. Thank you!

Great job. However, the French accent isn’t correct (with, for example Choir 1 and worst with Choir 3). The pronunciation is mainly correct but the accent is like an Asian person who speak French. It’s cute but not in all the case
