About This Beta

This release significantly expands scripting capabilities, bringing them up-to-date with features introduced in version 2. You can now create and share JavaScript and Lua scripts to access and modify retakes, pitch control points/curves, detailed vocal mode parameters, track mixer, and even detailed consonant timing and activity parameters.

We’ve also updated the scripting manual to document these new features:

https://resource.dreamtonics.com/scripting/index.html

In addition to scripting enhancements, we’ve added the ability to mute and unmute groups:

As an experimental change, we have adjusted the visuals for the loop region to align with the refreshed UI in version 2. Please share your thoughts in the comments below!

Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro 2.1.1

New Features

  • Added a command for muting/unmuting selected groups or notes.
  • Expanded scripting support:
    • NoteGroupReference.isMuted() and NoteGroupReference.setMuted()
    • NoteGroupReference.setTimeRange()
    • SV.getComputedAttributesForGroup()
    • SV.getComputedPitchForGroup()
    • SV.print()
    • Added expValueX, expValueY, muted, evenSyllableDuration, languageOverride, phonesetOverride and phoneme attributes to Note.getAttributes() and Note.setAttributes().
    • Added RetakeList object and NoteGroup.getRetakes()
    • Added TrackMixer object and Track.getMixer().
    • Added vocalModeParams to NoteGroupReference.getVoice() and NoteGroupReference.setVoice().

Behavior Changes

  • Blocked keyboard shortcuts and menu commands when the License panel or Settings panel is open.
  • Reset Pitch now also removes pitch control objects over the selected note.

Feature Enhancements

  • Updated the visuals for the loop region.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed crashes when undoing a pitch control modification while some pitch control points are still selected.
  • Fixed crashes when moving a group across tracks.
  • Fixed data loss in REAPER when a project is saved with the ARA plugin loaded only on empty track(s).
  • Fixed stuttering playback when the ARA plugin is followed by an effect plugin with large latency.
  • Fixed Alt/Option+Drag being able to duplicate an instrumental on the same track, causing project data corruption.
  • Fixed Alt/Option+Drag not working for pitch controls associated with selected notes.
  • Fixed voice download progress exceeding 100% on Windows.
  • Fixed the rap tone/intonation sliders in the Notes panel not showing the default values predicted by the system.
  • Fixed phoneme labels above notes blocking area-selection on the piano roll.
  • Fixed Dictionary panel not responding to Cross-Lingual Synthesis and only listing dictionary options for the voice’s original language instead.
  • Fixed retake indicators not showing immediately on newly pasted notes.
  • Fixed Vibrato Envelope parameter modifications not affecting the pitch after resizing the left boundary of the parent group.
  • Fixed Voice-to-MIDI conversion creating lots of redundant notes at 100% sensitivity.
  • Prevented loop markers from being dragged to before the start of the timeline.

I like the Mute NoteGroup feature. It will be a little less cumbersome because you can Mute only the necessary parts without Mute the entire track I think.

I’m studying slowly while looking at the scripting manual based on the 2.1.0 version that was updated this time, but I’m not sure what the new APIs(?) that have been added to this beta are doing yet. I will study more during the beta period.

My first comments on this new version 2.1.1 (beta 1)
Missing:
1/ get/set language for note group reference
2/ get/set language for a track
3/ Internal voicebank list
4/ get/set voice on a group
5/ get/set voice on a track
6/ Phonemes timing activity & position on all phonemes (not only on manual updated ones)
SV:print:
Nice new introduction to debugging, but the data filling to writing to the console terminal isn’t very clean.
A dedicated window/panel would be more appropriate.

I updated 2 of my scripts for the upcoming new 2.1.1.
1/ GroupSize 2.0 using the new script command “setTimeRange”
2/ GroupHarmony 2.0 uses the new AI-generated retakes for the transposed generated notes harmony group. (But the language set for a track or group is still missing). Currently, these scripts only works with the latest version of Synthesizer 2.1.1 (beta 1).

First feedback from my side to the new V2.1.1 beta:

@Dreamtonics finally managed to remove the annoying “4 minutes waiting time” I reported before. This was experienced every time after loading any SV2-containing song in Cubase Pro 14, in case it was the very first song after the DAW has been initially launched. I can only hope that this current behavior will be retained in the official V2.1.1 version when it will be released. For reference, the previous 2.1.0 b3 did also not show this “waiting time” issue, but the official 2.1.0 version did. So let’s hope for the best! Thanks @Dreamtonics for fixing this!

New comments on 2.1.1 beta 1
Shortcuts:
In version 2.1.1, the playhead can be moved forward/backward with the left/right cursor.
With scripts, we can currently:
1/ If no notes are selected:
Move the playhead forward/backward/up/down with the arrow keys (but in version 2.1.1, we must disable the new default shortcuts for left/right).
2/ If notes are selected:
Move notes up/down with the arrow keys (up/down/left/right cursor).
Much more interesting behavior with a simple script (but internal improvements are also possible in version 2.1.1 or later).

Save settings:
Settings are only saved when closing the Synthesizer V application.
If multiple plugins and a standalone version are running, only the last one wins.
Consequence: Loss of previously defined shortcuts in some cases.
Maybe a separate settings file for shortcuts with a save/reload button.
