Translations via Google:

Since the release of the technical preview version of Synthesizer V in 2018, we are very honored to have received the attention and recognition from partners, industry companies, professional musicians, and creative enthusiasts, and to have been able to move forward with you all. We sincerely hope that the new generation of products can bring creators a more powerful, convenient, and comfortable creative experience for music creation. Please look forward to more information we will release in the future.

Someone noted that the voicebanks in the screenshot are ā€œNatalie 2ā€, ā€œSheena 2ā€ and ā€œFelicia 2ā€:

Hopefully the new voices will be part of the editor upgrade, and not a per-voice upgrade cost, because Iā€™ve got a lot of voices.

Yes and itā€™s scary when you consider the price of a V2 for each voice after having invested in quite a few voicebanks!

Currently, we have, I think, three types of voicebank:

  • Lite
  • Standard (some from pre-AI days)
  • AI
    Voices

Nobody worries about mixing these in a single project, maybe the anticipated additional type will just be another option within this new SynthV2, after all, when Dreamtronics first released AI, the demos obviously used these ā€˜new AIā€™ voices! It would make no sense to advertise a V2 engine with voicebanks unable to make use of new abilities.

I suspect all the existing voicebanks will work in this new program but each at their own ā€˜skill levelā€™, the current three voicebank types will still exist, as does your current program so no need to buy the new version as soon as it is released, it remains to be seen if any new voicebanks will have a version compatible with our current SynthVAI, which was, on launch, a big step up from the original (for those that remember it)ā€¦

That was exactly my point, not to be sure that the old voice banks can work but for new features, so interesting that you have to ā€œbuyā€ these new versions (not mandatory but essential).
Buy at the most expensive price without special upgrade price. And regret that other voices (not Dreamtonics) could not evolve to V2 to improve new features. Also maybe the 2 versions (1 & 2) could be installed togetherā€¦ Wait and will see.

Some kind of software in the past released new version that was not compatible with the previous data. But we could continue to use them separatelyā€¦ It could be a bad new in this case. I wish not but always possible.

I canā€™t see where you found this information, maybe there will be an ā€˜upgradeā€™ option for existing vb license owners ā€¦ if / when SynthV2 becomes available.

I still find it a bit odd that the above news is only in Chinese language on bilibili.com, why still nothing on Dreamtronics own news page?

No, it is just a suggestion that dreams can not be real sometimes. Lots of software broke compatibility for a good reason but does not necessarily correspond to customer expectations. In advanced research environments, it is often useful for developers to break away from old technologies for the sake of new features, this is common.
And as I wrote above, I wish everything to be as we wish of course.

Iā€™m in the US. Colorado to be more specific :cowboy_hat_face:

I remember the evening when still paying singers who really didnā€™t want to, surfing the net and coming across Kanruā€™s web page. He was one dude stateside presumably on a student visa, and he had this singing synth that sounded western. At that time there was just Vocaloid from Yamaha and Utau which I did not know about at that time. I FLEW out of my chair to take the laptop to my wife in the next room so show her and just stood there with a Cheshire Cat smile as it looked for all the world that someone finally did it, A western-ish sounding voical synth with the lone Eleanor Forte. It was free, called a technical preview, and that was all I ever wanted in life. No VST, no AI but now I could have Eleanor as my singing slave without all the drama! Oh Yay.

Now were flat catered to and spoiled. The voice to midi thing is just a gift, and I donā€™t think thatā€™s over-stating it.

DAWs have long hit the development wall and the is nothing really earth shattering there anymore, but there is so much to do in the Singing Synth world to get excited about.

Go Dreamtonics, Go!

I just hope V2 wonā€™t be subscription. :hushed:

Happy New Year Yā€™all

This is a teaser, and nothing more. Theyā€™re holding off announcing details for the NAMM ( National Association of Music Merchants) show, which is where a lot of major products are announced.

Then again, it could be that they were going to be at NAMM anyway, so the timing just worked out.

As with the tradition of teasers, very little actual information is released. The hope is that will increase speculation and ā€œbuzzā€ surrounding the new product.

Since itā€™s not news, I would have expected that Dreamtonics would have posted something to their own forum. But they view the forum as a place where users can get together and discuss the product with each other, and not as a direct line to the company.

Nothing to prevent us from guessing the V2 features. I predict:

  • Better tools for humanizing timing
  • Ability to change piano roll colors to match the key of the song
  • Long awaited support for Klingon language
  • Ability to sync timing with the DAW
  • Integration with Vocoflex

I expect a wider spectrum of vocal modes, with higher flexibility in how to obtain certain styles of singing that are hard to get.
Someone shared this new on a Synth V facebook page the other day, where they showcased a collaboration of Dreamtonics and an Opera show featuring a person with a vocal disability. There they explained that one weakness of Synth V is that it is trained to sound as natural as possible for human listeners, but styles like operado not sound natural, so to train the model to sing like Opera is big challenge. I assume they are developing V2 to overcome that drawback, making possible ā€œun-naturalā€ styles (opera, growl, etc.).

Yes I will like that! And to sing a Klingon opera ā€œmelotaā€ too! lol

ARA is the solution, but with better reliability and integration could be more usable.

I doubt about that because of:
ID, video, fingerprint, blood test via batā€™lethā€¦ currently mandatory for the purchase of Vocoflex!

This sounds really cool, do you happen to have the link to that video please? Iā€™m basing my final project for my Digital Accessibility qualification on SynthV and this would be a great reference for my report!

Iā€™m not sure that will be made available.

Based on what Iā€™ve read, vocal modes seem to come directly from the training data for specific singers. So they donā€™t seem to currently be transferable.

Of course, thatā€™s not to say that Dreamtonics hasnā€™t found a way to generalize it across sets of voices. But it would require a change to the UI in order to accomodate new data elements in the file.

I canā€™t wait. Iā€™m looking forward to it.

I believe that competition is getting serious, especially with new entrants like Maghni AI (https://maghni.ai), which claims to allow singing in more than 40 languages, with all types of voices and nuances possible. Therefore, to stay ahead, Dreamtonics must seriously advance in areas such as language machine learning, creating varied voice timbres (as in Vocoflex), increased integration into DAWs, extended expressiveness possibilities (including gradual timbre change during a piece for ā€˜creativeā€™ effects), and ease of use. I imagine this is the direction of their new version. Response soonā€¦

I have just been looking at this and it looks to me like vague hand-waving and promises rather than demonstrable product; OK, I understand that this is a crowdfunding pitch and not am established product but

so why are the demos I have seen so far all in English language?
I canā€™t see any promise in the advertising that couldnā€™t be applied to SynthV nowā€¦ ! What am I missing?
