I’ve noticed that with Liam 2 in Synthesizer V2, certain words or parts of words sometimes suddenly “jump out” in the mix.
At first I tried controlling this with volume automation and compression, but it didn’t really solve the issue. I then used a narrow Q and swept through the vocal, which revealed that several frequencies seem to build up and cause a kind of squealing/whistling resonance.
However, by the time I carefully set up dynamic EQ bands in FabFilter Pro-Q4, the vocal started to sound too nasal. I may have overdone the cuts, but I experimented quite a bit to find a balance.
I’m also not very experienced with the more advanced vocal editing tools under the note “blobs” (such as mouth opening and similar parameters). I did try re-takes and also adjusted the Vocal Mode parameters, but nothing seemed to fully resolve the issue.
Has anyone else experienced this with Liam 2, and are there better approaches to controlling these resonances without making the vocal sound unnatural?
