RESOLVED! Synthesizer V Studio Plugin Not Working In Reaper

I am having trouble using the Synthesizer V Studio VST3i plugin in Reaper. The ARA version of the plugin has the exact same problem. Hoping someone here can help me sort it out.

First, here is how I work with the Synthesizer V Studio standalone program…

  • open Synthesizer V Studio standalone program
  • draw some notes
  • press Play and I only get tones for the notes
  • then I go to the Voice tab, choose SOLARIA for Current database
  • press Play and SOLARIA sings the notes beautifully

Next I try to use the Synthesizer V Studio VST3i plugin in Reaper…

  • close the Synthesizer V Studio standalone program
  • open Reaper (latest version 7.24/win64 with no add-ons and no custom setup or anything different)
  • insert Virtual Instrument on New Track
  • choose VST3i Synthesizer V Studio plugin (Synthesizer V Studio Pro 1.11.2 / Synthesizer V Engine 2.8.1)
  • select No for Build Routing Confirmation
  • draw some notes
  • press Play in the Synth V plugin and I only get a tone for the notes
  • then I go to the Voice tab, choose SOLARIA for Current database
  • press Play and I still get only tones for the notes! No SOLARIA singing!

This is a plain, clean install of the latest version of Reaper and I just recently purchased Synth V so it is current too.

Any ideas as to what might be wrong here? Thanks in advance for any help!

it’s working in Sonar OK. are you using the VST or the ARA mode? check to make sure the voice bank is rendering. in mine i also have the “mixdown” rendering checked, but that (for me) is the default.

Thanks. I have tried both VST3i and ARA and neither will make the voices.

How would I “check to make sure the voice bank is rendering”?

I figured this out and got it working! I believe this may have been related to the fact that I had previously installed the Synthesizer V free version and then purchased and installed the pro version without first uninstalling the free one. Below is what I did,

  1. downloaded a fresh copy of Synthesizer V Studio Pro (same version as I already had installed)
  2. deleted the Synthesizer V VST files from my computer
  3. reinstalled Synthesizer V Studio Pro including the VSTs (I did NOT uninstall or deactivate anything first)
  4. went into Reaper and forced a complete rescan of all VST folders
  5. NOW IT WORKS!

My takeaway/advice is this, if you install the free version and subsequently buy the pro version be sure you uninstall the free one BEFORE you install the pro one!
