Hi, I just started the 14-day trial version for strings and I love it. But I can’t find a way to pan close mics. Is it even possible? There are L & R channels for the other pairs, but for mono close mics there is no pan knob. The only way is to pan the whole track, which distorts the space when using the other stereo pairs. Now all the strings play from the middle, which is super weird
Would you pan it outside of the IX UI? I’m using VSL’s MIR Pro which of course places the instrument on a virtual stage. Also fwiw I’m not just using close mics. I prefer mostly tree with a tiny bit of close and in some cases a tiny bit of ambient. To me that sounds more natural and more easily placeable on a stage than close mic alone.
If the track’s panorama is moved to the left or right, the reverb signal of the instrument shifts along with it (if this effect is active). This tends to sound quite unnatural.
I haven’t tried it, but can you use the left, right, center sliders on the mixer to adjust? I really think doing it in a daw is probably the way to go. Lots of good options there.
Yes, that’s true.
But in my opinion, the options aren’t quite fully developed yet.
You can adjust the volume of the individual virtual microphones using the faders in the mixer, but it isn’t possible to virtually position the respective instrument within the soundstage.
And regarding the reverb again:
If I pull a channel fader for a microphone pair all the way down in the mixer—say, the right one—I don’t hear any reverb on that channel either. So, it isn’t true stereo reverb.
