Hello fellow Synth V users. Here’s a pop ballad I just finished writing that features Kevin on vocals. I thought I should give the backstory because it’s a little different than your typical love song about a breakup. It’s about having to distance myself from a lifelong friend whose alcoholism and accompanying malignant narcissism became too much for me to deal with. If you’ve ever been close to a narcissist you know where I’m coming from. I guess you could say it’s about acceptance, as much as a lament about losing my buddy to alcohol. Maybe someone out there can relate.
Like you I too terminated a long friendship of a friend due to his drug abuse (barbiturates valium etc) and total narcissism it was more his controlling narcissism than his drug abuse that made me totally finish our friendship..
Anyway good work with your song ![]()
Thanks so much @bryzar! Yeah, the thing about narcissists is if they are close to you they know all your triggers and aren’t afraid to use them.
Very nice song. I like the understated arrangement. Though I am usually unimpressed with Kevin’s singing, the voice works well here.
Thank you very much Keith! Old Kevin went through a lot of changes on this one.
He’s perfect for the sensitive stuff but I really had to pour on the tension for the higher register stuff in order to keep him from sounding like a total wimp.
I know what you mean. I’ve also found that adjusting the Gender up a little in the high parts can give the voice a little more maturity, basically tone down the Boy Band feel.
Very emotional and reduced - like it.
Thanks so much @patepro ! Really appreciate your taking the time to listen!
