Options needed to pause or disable rendering for structural edits

I’m trying to chop/group 64 bars of two simple tracks.
Every time I try to split it restarts rendering which is taking a few minutes.

Is there an option to pause rendering entirely for structural edits.??

I don’t mind it running a full render when finished - but this is taking way too long?

I believe it’s not possible to disable rendering. Though I have not tried modifying the following parameters myself, I suggest you check: Settings > Rendering > Live Preview. It’s related to pitch rendering, but it may help with performance at least.

Remove the voice temporarily? Or move/copy the group to an empty track with no voice applied, do the edits and move back to the vocal track? Just a thought …

You can mute the group or select notes but that’s the best I can think of.

I wish Dreamtonics would give us a Render Button. It would work as follows.

It has two states: Auto and Manual.

In Auto, SynthV would function exactly as now.

In Manual, you would need to click the Render Button to force SynthV to render your vocal.

Adding this functionality would speed-up the editing process by eliminating the need to wait while unnecessary rendering occurred.

+1 for the “render” button.

This would be a really cool feature when you have to edit several notes or even bars at once and don’t need to listen to the results after every individual change (e.g. transposing some bars, replacing text for the whole verse/chorus, splitting and rearranging, simultaneous adjusting of voice parameters for several tracks/voices etc).

We’re all on the same page with this one I think.

Wonder if our comments make a difference - can’t wait to see as a new user.
I mean - the results are amazing so guess its worth the render wait.

But I could be so much more productive with a temporary off switch ( render, not me personally lol)

thanks

I tried to create a poll to ascertain how many other users want this feature, but didn’t see a way to do it on this forum.

Perhaps if enough users ask for it, we might get it.

That’d be an interesting function. Try submitting a request and maybe they’ll consider it?

I raised a Feature Request ticket for this over a year ago. I never heard anything back. Maybe if more people raise a similar ticket Dreamtonics will realise this is now a serious workflow issue.

I bought the choirs when they were released but have been unable to use them as every micro-edit causes a 2 minute re-render, making the software unusable…

Oh no,

I raised a feature request just for this render option and was hoping for some response.

I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for the moment until I get nowhere or somewhere.

What a tragedy for such brilliant software to have some apparently obvious oversights.

I wonder what environments we have where this is an issue? For me on Windows 11 using SV as a plugin on Cubase 15 Pro rendering is almost instantaneous and I can carry on amending notes etc. while it is merrily running the render at the same time. I’ve never had a Two Minute wait, even in the early iterations of the software. (and my PC is a good one, but nothing earth shattering in processing power)

Perhaps we need to establish what DAWs and OS are causing particular issues, and whether it is in standalone, VST or ARA modes?

Don’t think it’s daw related. I tried standalone and ara plugin and getting delayed render delays whenever I change lyrics or voice attributes or notes.

And not alone judging by the supportive comments

Maybe you’ve got a mega machine. But I’m on win 11 i7 with 16GB ram using reaper and Ableton.

I’m running AMD Ryzen 7 7700X with 32Gb RAM and a basic 4Gb Graphics Card (Cubase needs a reasonable card to work well - not sure if it affects SV performance?), so nothing OTT.

It could be DAW related, but the other thing is I have always run SV in ARA Bridge mode and it poses no performance issues. However I haven’t used the choirs so I can’t comment on how that performs.

Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro is optimized to run AI inference on the CPU, so it’s expected that the graphics card should only be used for UI rendering instead of assisting on the vocals.

As others have mentioned, perhaps you should open a support ticket to report performance degradation.
