Impressed with the versatility of many of the Synth V voices:
Great music and I can’t work so well with NineZero to achieve such a performance. The fact that it doesn’t have so many vocal modes, thanks to the good setting options in Synthesizer V Pro, it is probably possible to create as good a vocal as here. I once tried to sing with NineZero Janis Joplin’s “Move Over” and I quite liked it. But it was not the whole thing, and my knowledge of English did not authorize me to publish it. I can only write songs with Czech lyrics.
If you ever need help with english lyrics, I can assist.
Thank you very much for the offer. I only write my own stuff, where I can do with the Czech text. I would have to write a song good enough to deserve English lyrics. It would be interesting if the number of listeners would increase due to the English text. Lately, I don’t input completely the default midi into synthesizer, but I sing things to myself and convert them to midi via the synthesizer. I can’t imagine the phonemes created with my English pronunciation. Correcting the phonemes would take a lot of work. Another thing is to write the English text. I am benevolent in this, because I do not demand to follow the content of the text, because I know that each place has its own specifics. And the text must be acceptable everywhere. And I haven’t tried it outside the Czech Republic at all. I have songs on SoundCloud and basically the whole world a smaller number is listening to my songs with no one understanding my lyrics. With an English text, many listeners would begin to understand, and a literal transcription from Czech might not have the right direction and would be laborious. If it was made by picking 2,3,4 thoughts and using the others ideas of their own in English and using the sound painting of the supporting part of the chorus, then it might serve the purpose.
I’m sorry, but I’m 74 years old and I don’t have the flexibility to write in English anymore, and I’m not qualified enough to work with you, but I wish you success in your beautiful work you’ve started. And thanks again for your help.
that’s really an impressive use of ninezero, so far from what i have achieved in terms of tone and musicality. which settings /effects/other did you use??
Hey, thanks for the comment. First off, the vocals are multi-tracked and panned (3 left, 3 right, and 1 centre). The trick with this was to select RAP instead of SINGING. With NineZero, RAP produces a harder delivery but still retains some of the note - so you get like 90% aggressive and 10% melodic.
Next I played with tension, breathiness and loudness to get the distorted tone. When you boost distortion it comes at the expense of volume so you’ll have to layer tracks to build up power.
Finally I added a “dance vocals” setting to the primary vox track in Garageband. Essentially it brightens and adds some reverb to the track.
I’ve tried to get this kind of sound from other voices but with less success. I struggle with Ritchie even though he seems like he would work well for aggressive music. Something about his enunciation feels off for me.
The best advice I can give is use vocal layering and stereo split to you advantage.
Really great song… Did you play everything and mix it?
I’m just getting started with Synthesizer V and I bought NineZero for the exact type of music you’re doing. It’s exciting that this software is able to produce such a realistic vocal performance.
Thanks you, sir. I echo your feelings about the software. I’ve got 30 years of songs waiting to be brought to life. Synth V is what I’ve been waiting for.
For my tunes, I play guitars and bass. I work out vocal melodies on guitar before getting into Synth V. The drums are the hardest part. I generally build all the beats from scratch using a midi tool, then model them using various kits and banks. The infinite options drive me nuts and I’m not patient enough to spends a week on snare sounds.
I mix my songs as well, then use Landr for mastering. If you’re into metal, I can recommend STL AmpHub for tones. Been really happy with it so far. No amps or mics at this point – I go direct to computer via a Focusrite unit.
Happy to meet a fellow heavy music fan. Here’s another one you might like. Let me know what you think. It’s a long one.
Another great song! I’m really impressed by the production and the mixes you’re doing. This song really has a Soundgarden kind of vibe, and I mean that as a huge compliment!
Thanks for all the information! Hopefully I can get something even a little close to what you’re doing.
If we could only get it to sound more guttural, grittier. There’s still too pure of a quality to it. But great song.
good job!
very nice track
Hi @gauzde it’s a fact that you can write English much better than most of us can write Czech
I think there are some scripts that can do bulk replacement of phonemes so, if you know your accent makes you pronounce certain things a different way to how native English speakers would, you could swap them all at once and save you a mass of time.
I have similar issues coming from the North of England and I struggle to get UK English pronunciation rather than USA English pronunciations (plus we use flattened vowels which are almost impossible to get from the synth but I’m happy to compromise a bit).
Also, who cares if your lyrics are accepted everywhere, it’s art, your art, and if its meaningful to you then that really is all that matters. If someone else likes it then that’s a bonus
One thing I do know is that there are lots of people on the forum that are happy to give their time to help anyone with anything synthv/mixing/production related so lean into that as often as you need to help you realise your music.
GBT (slowly getting back into songwriting after a few months hiatus).
Couldn’t the OP use a tube saturation plug-in in their DAW to make it sound grittier?
Nice! Not the usual style of music I like but I enjoyed this! Thanks for sharing!
