I can’t find a vowel phoneme for words like ear, tear, fear. I looked at the list on this page https://dreamtonics.com/svstudio-resources/ but it is missing and the words are pronounced incorrectly. Default phoneme for “tear” in Synthesizer V Studio seems to be “eh” as in words like bed, red, said but that is not the same sound as in ear, tear, fear and so on. Is this something you will fix in a future update?
The R-colored vowel as in “ear” and “fear”, or formally the NEAR vowel, isn’t allotted a separate phoneme in SynthV. Instead it must’ve been presented as ih r or iy r (I cannot check which right now). The only R-colored vowel with a dedicated phoneme in SynthV English is er, the NURSE vowel.
As for “tear”, it must be acknowledged that the verb “tear” is actually pronounced t eh r; formally with the SQUARE vowel.
I find the easiest way to deal with mispronunciations is to find a word that rhymes with what you’re looking for, see what phonemes it uses and extract what you need.
The problem isn’t SV, it’s the English language. Multiple pronunciations for a single spelling.
Look back at this old post to see one possible way of dealing with the inconcistencies of English pronunciation, the subject was the word “live” - do I live here and am I alive?
I used the dictionary to give both options easily.
