Feature request (bug/crash)

I experienced a SV crash today = something like “The AU had an error please quit Logic and restart”.

(All I was doing was grabbing a fair number of notes and trying to drag them to another location.)

The feature request would be for SV to keep a running realtime backup - a recovery file.
Having experienced SV crashes before I have been making many versioned stand alone .svp backups a day - as well as saving into the host and saving the project in versions too (best practice) - so not much is lost this time around. It just would be nice to recover that last work in progress.

I have a bit of frustration with SynthV in Logic Pro, also. I find I have to run it in Rosetta (which is dead once I upgrade to Sequoia), otherwise I get non-stop “script can not load” errors every time I touch the SynthV plugin. Even in Rosetta there are issues.

In Logic doesn’t let you set the intervals for automatic project backups, but they are pretty frequent. I have used them to recover lost work occasionally. Have you looked at that alternative?

I’m running Sonoma (M1 16" MacBook Pro) and not really having many problems - just every once in a while. I’m going to hold off on going to Sequoia.
I’ve not seen errors like you’re having. (I have a very clean install on a nearly new box without a lot of other programs cluttering things)

I’m NOT running under Rosetta (Can’t use it) - for reasons unrelated to SV simple things had horrible distortion in the FX that drove me nuts for endless months… I couldn’t figure it out. No one could. I finally connected that it was only happening under Rosetta.
That was the end of that.

Logic background backups are great - but AFAIK they do not monitor ongoing work in the SV plug-in - which is why manually saving versioned copies from the plug-in menu is a good practice. (in lieu of the requested SV auto-save feature). Once you save an external B/U svp, go back and “Save to internal host”… that will be seen in Logic’s auto-save - I also save an updated Logic project version as well at that time.

If you want to make a request to Dreamtronics then I think you will need to contact them directly, they never seemed to visit the old forum.

Ah, you are correct, Logic’s auto-backup doesn’t read the SynthV data. And I agree about Rosetta, I am unable to use some very vital filters and effects when it is running.
