Dreamtonics Abandons Their Customers :(

Version 2 of Synthesizer V is simply not working correctly yet. The Version 2 voices (English) are inferior to Version 1 and are not usable on a professional level.

And yet – Dreamtonics have decided to no longer sell version 1 voices! If I had only known that they were going to release an inferior product and abandon their original customers, I would’ve bought all the Version 1 voices before.

I have deadlines and need results, and now am limited to the three V1 voices I have. I am stunned that a company that made the most amazing wonderful voice plugin in the world would release such an inferior version. Just listen to the demos of the V2 voices and you hear dropouts, distortion, and other quality issues. I cannot turn in a recording to my producers with such poor quality.

I emailed Dreamtonics and begged them to sell me more V1 voices. Alas, they are turning their backs on users. I would be thrilled to upgrade to Version 2 of their software, but not when it means reducing quality!

This is their email to me:

" > Dear D___,

Thank you for reaching out to Dreamtonics Support.

Unfortunately, the distribution of the SV1 voices has been terminated.

We have been heavily working on improving the voice quality of the SV2 voices. And we will keep doing so."

In other words, those of us who care about quality are out of luck. We have no idea when (or if) the V2 voices will ever achieve the same quality as V1. They should have waited to release V2 at a time when it was at least a good as V1.

I am deeply disappointed. How could they make such a beautiful product and then drive their company under by abandoning users and releasing an inferior product?

My experience has been almost the complete opposite. I’m running V2.1 with V2 voices, and the results have been great and improved over V1 voices.

I’m not saying your experience is invalid; I’m just saying it might not be the norm.

Well, that’s good to hear! I really want this product to succeed.

Thank you for showing me the upside. Out of curiosity, which voices are you using that have been good?

I only listened to the native English voices.

Um, it’s a fair point: I only have experienced with Solaria 1 & 2, Kevin 1 & 2, and Liam. I used V1 on Windows, and I have been comparing it with 2.1 on Mac. So far I haven’t switched to V2 on Windows and perhaps if I did I would have a different experience. But in general, my V2 experience - within those parameters - has been very good.

Could you provide links to demos with these issues, and explain where these issues are in the demos?

Thanks!

Improvements are underway, particularly with the beta versions of the Dreamtonics voice banks. I hope the result will please as many people as possible. And also other voicebank providers will do the same (like NYL by ES, for example). But we must wait for the Dreamtonics voicebank new releases.

Will these voice bank updates to version 2.01 be free for users already owning related 2.00 versions?

And the second question would be, if there is a chance to select/store the related voice version (2.00 or 2.01) with the SV2 or DAW project it has been used with? Currently there’s a dropdown menu where the voice version can be chosen (but as per now only 2.00 is possible).

as it worked in version 1, all voice updates were free, this should be no different. the upgrade price was for the new software and completely retrained vocals. and i assume that when you update it’ll keep the older version and you can select it or uninstall it like in version 1. getting back older versions though that’s uncertain.

@Asinine :
Thanks for your information.

Another question from my side related to the purchase of any new SV2 voices from Dreamtonics and/or Eclipsed Sounds:

Let’s assume I’d like to purchase another voice for which the current version is 2.01 already. Let’s say I have also tested this voice already some time ago when it was still available as V2.00, but I liked it already as it was. In case I put this product in the basket now, will I finally receive the latest version 2.01 only, or will I also get the benefit using the initial V2.00 which I already tested before (and for which all the audio demos are still presented in the shops)?

Has anyone of you purchased an SV2 voice lately, and received its voice version V2.01 exclusively? Thanks for your information.

Idk if this will help you but some of the version 1 vocals are still available on AHS website: Dreamtonics製 Synthesizer V 専用歌声データベース|製品情報|AHS(AH-Software)

and DLsite: AH-Software(エーエイチソフトウェア) Brand Profile | Product List [DLsite PC Software]

Just double check if you are getting version1 vocal because the listing for version2 is there aswell
