Been exploring different guitar sounds recently and found a new tone that I really responded to. I started jamming and out came the tune - an upbeat toe-tapper with a decidedly darker route lyrically (the body drops at 3:14)
Desolation
Somewhere in the shadows
There’s a secret
Behind a garden wall
Nothing really grows here
Anymore now
No signs of life at all
(no signs of life)
I tried
To build you a fortress
I tried
To bring you the sun
I lied
For you
Desolation
Down there by the gallows
If you seek it
You’ll find what you so crave
(what you wanted)
See, I was a coward
(so afraid)
With a rope
But you are not that brave
(save me)
Empty promises
Are such a burden
I can’t bear the wait
When you’re still hurting
So I hang around
Until someone cuts me down
Once the light fades
(Desolation)
No more charades
(Desolation)
One last step
(Desolation)
To help me break through
(Desolation)
(I/You) died
And (I’m/You’re) denied
