Of late my tracks have been creeping into being almost entirely automated using Logic’s excellent players, so I wanted to re-ground myself a bit and do a track that actually required me to play some instruments! To avoid all the angst involved with having to write a song, I did this cover version of The Weeknd’s excellent “Blinding Lights”, which involved me playing guitar and bass. Yes, OK, Logic did play the drums and keyboards! Logic’s stem splitting and chord identification were very helpful, and SV’s audio-to-vocals worked well enough to save me a lot of work.
I did run into a nasty SV bug again: if you have more than one instance of SV, you might suddenly find that one becomes a copy of the other, losing a whole track of vocals. I’ve had this happen a few times over the last year, finally got around to reporting it. Meanwhile, Logic’s auto-save/version revert feature saved me this time.
