I would like to purchase another voice but I’m only inclined to do that if it’s not going to be a waste of money. I will almost certainly buy v2 as soon as it’s available. Does anyone here have the inside track of backwards compatibility?
Good question, Wondering the same thing myself
Maybe in NAMM they will give more info, since they will be presenting a WIP version on V2.
I would hold until then, since is going to be this month.
This is no guarantee but…
I find it hard to imagine our existing voice banks being unuseable in the new version, there are some voice banks that have only just been released and, as Dreamtronics have to process them at a cost to the provider, you would think they would have warned the providers of this extremely short lifetime for their high-cost investment to avoid alienating them.
I prefer to imagine that, maybe, SynthV2 will allow some new vocal abilities for suitably equipped voice banks and, probably, some alterations to the GUI’s form and function but still continue as now with our existing VBs.
If SynthV2 only works with re-packaged VBs then it will, at best, delay me buying SV2 at least until teething problems are sorted and I see a real benefit from what would be restarting from scratch. The current SynthV still does enough for me.
I hope so too! And that V2 replaces V1 (without the need to use both in the DAW). In addition, no communication from Dreamtonics on this subject, it’s unnecessary stress for customers. Just for an announcement effect.
Yes, we all hope so too. But again, no communication and also, no beta release this time to check this.
I hope SynthV2 doesn’t come with a bunch of new bugs. So we have to invest (on new version & new voices) in an unusable product and wait for new releases.
There’s no guarantee that the SynthV 2 demo at Namm show 2025 will be the commercial release date.
Since Dreamtonics talks about a WIP (Work In Progress) version on Facebook, the actual release date will probably be later.
“We will be revealing a WIP version of Synthesizer V Studio 2 at this year’s NAMM Show in California. See you at the Anaheim Convention Center from January 23 to 25—that’s booth number 15623.”
This is exactly what I meant above. Dreaming and hoping are not reality, waiting and seeing and waiting is much more realistic.
“And we believe in mutual satisfaction - us and Dreamtonics …”
