You open my eyes more and more, even though your songs come to me through my ears. I realize more and more what the Synthesizer from Dreamtonics does for us. It opens up paths to greater knowledge for us and it’s great. Because of your style of work and its understanding, I have the ability to empathize and understand you. I can imitate most of the singing this song that Asterian sing with real singing, but not as perfect as you gave Asterian. However, I understand the principle of this singing and Asterian’s singing (via Growl scripts). However, what I don’t give (if I were 20 years old, I would have learned it, but I’m 75 years old) is falsetto (I can do it up to C5) and it goes higher and here Asterian transitions from it to singing that is above falsetto (and it is already being taught on the Internet) and that is the “Flageolet” style and above the flageolet there are “Whistle notes” (you don’t have that here). I don’t understand how this can be handled in a synthesizer. In real singing, I have a vision that many people don’t believe in. My vision is that singing is accompanied by another vocal organ, which is in the throat above the vocal cords, and these are the Ventricular Eyelashes. And when singing, both can be used alternately, both dominantly and “submissively”. The vocal cords are completely dominant in regular mainstream singing. Ventricular Eyelashes are dominant in Flageolet, Whistle notes and Vocal Free (here the tones turn into intonation noise - similar to drums - tuned toms). With Growl bass, the deeper the notes, the more dominant the Ventricular Eyelashes are. You have my admiration for how you managed it with Asterian and I guess you have a musical feeling for it. You just demonstrated it in your second post at the same time. With Solaria, you used scripts again with great feeling. I’m starting to love Synthesizer more and more.

If you find some kind of inspiration in my work s u p e r b
For me each song is an experiment first and foremost
I just try to “break” these voices, see how far it can be pushed
There have been times I thought, well this is it:\
But then experiment some more and it suddenly opens up
Have not found a limit yet, Yeah!
So, great to hear you experiment with your voice, 20 or 75
Your body might be less forgiving, but progress is always possible
You might just stumble and a whole new door opens
And he, László Krasznahorkai just honored a literature Nobel prize at 71:)

So I experimented and “SynthV2” pleasantly surprised me. I thought that the synthesizer wouldn’t be able to convert metal vocals from wav to mid (svp) in a good way, but it can. I took a very hard rock recording and separated the voice using Ripx and imported that voice as a wav into the synthesizer. The import was successful, which I expected, so I assigned the voice to HXVOC and went wild on the vocal modes, that HXVOC performed an amazing metal vocal. I’m not publishing the recording, I have it for study reasons! I exported the HXVOC voice to wav and imported this wav again and compared both HXVOC tracks (default and newly imported). The result turned out well without anomalies. The course of both tracks was similar. The only problem with the synthesizer remains when importing my vocals in the octave (C1-B1), where the synthesizer constantly assigns the B1 tone to most notes below B1, and for some it cannot handle it and puts them at the level of squeaky tones. If I use Asterian, this can be easily fixed and Asterian also gives the D1 tone (in my song Vampire - the last two notes of the vocals - the tone is more or less just a sample and the song can do without it). So this is how a 75-year-old little childish boy fades out

I can follow your experiments, but I don’t have HXVOC (yet), so can only imagine
But I hear what others are doing with HXVOC and it sounds good
Childish? …….… is there another way :blush:

Amazing work on the vocal controls (and the excellent backing track), but for me the voice mix is much too harsh and distorted, and it’s consistently loud the whole way through, lacking the dynamic range of the original. I’d go for lots more voice param automation on this.

Wow, I can tell a lot of work went into the details of the vocal inflections and details. Asterian is one of the voices I own, and I’ve NEVER gotten him to sound like this.

Once thing - I’m unfamiliar with the source material. Is the distortion on the vocals intentional?

Great to hear you like!
If you mean the growl in the voice, that is intentional, yes
AFA distortion fx there is not that much used (except the megaphone break)
I use the growl scripts for it, SV scripts are heaven for workflow & fx:)
I have 2 more songs with Asterian on my channel - see here - Purple rain & Broken
The vocals are somewhat treated the same in those songs (as reference)
And I’m just finishing on a new song with Asterian, yeah:)

The original song was a comparatively delicate thing by Nina Simone, but this version is based on a cover by Muse, which is much more “rocky”, and yes, that version does have quite a bit of distortion on the vocals. Nina didn’t need that :slight_smile:
