When Will New Voicebanks Become Available?

Hello gang!

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying using Synthesizer V2 and continue to be impressed by its capabilities — it’s an incredibly powerful and inspiring tool. I just wanted to check in and ask whether there are any plans to release new voicebanks in the near future.

Natalie 2 has quickly become my favourite voice for the style of music I produce, which leans toward underground melodic breakbeat, techno, and wave - emotionally driven electronic genres.

Looking forward to any updates you might be able to share.

There are always new voicebanks being developed. you can reference this for specific voicebanks coming soon: SynthV Wiki | Fandom

Also, even when no new voicebanks are announced by them, you can always expect that Dreamtonics, Eclipsed Sounds, and Audiologie are working on some.

After seeing your post I was intruiged enough to jump in and purchase the Natalie voice bank. I am working on a project with Solaria (I) and thought a refresh might be in order.

As it turns out Natalie didn’t work - the words were too slurry and the Asian accent too strong for my tastes. (Probably workable for another project if I had more time to spend on it).

Anyway the purpose of my post is to express my gratitude to the Dreamtonics team for organising the refund within hours of me raising a request! Excellent customer service, and worth pointing out for anyone else tempted to buy a voice bank under their 7-day refund guarantee.

It would still be better if trial versions were readily available, but this is definitely a solid option for anyone wanting to test the waters with a new voice.

Great, thanks for your reply!

As far as I’m concerned, the real voice behind Natalie 1 & 2 is Natalie Nicole Gilbert, and for sure she’s not Asian  .

Probably just the particular project I dropped it into - but according to the release notes it is VERY much a multi-lingual voice bank, so perhaps something has been introduced to ensure it works across the board.

I am still unhappy generally with the V2 voices. Liam is pretty good, but there isn’t a V1 to compare to. Solaria II and NYL II are totally unusable for me.

What are the problems with Solaria 2 and Nyl 2?

No problems as such - just a personal preference. Solaria II is like night and day compared to the original - far sweeter tones right out of the box. Simply don’t like the new voice.

Buying NYL was a mistake - same again, just can’t get away with the harshness and tonality of the voice. Tried all the options and just gave up. I wouldn’t have upgraded but it was only a fiver so I give it a go, but again just not to my taste.

Others will no doubt disagree

I don’t have any experience with Nyl, but I do agree with you that Solaria has changed quite a bit. However, I stopped used the first one a long time ago because the voice was too recognizable. It was the baseline of what was possible in SV, everyone bought it, and it just became that whenever I heard the voice, out of context, I knew it was Solaria. I feel that v2 is perhaps a little more generic, a little less instantly recognizable, and I don’t think that’s a bad thing, but we all look for something a little different.
If you’re still looking for a natively English speaking female, I’d suggest Felicia. She knocked Solaria off the top spot for me when she was released, I must say.

Yeah, I can’t disagree that Solaria I is pretty generic - but that is probably because it is so easy to work with and get solid results right out of the box.

I’m lucky enough to have Vocoflex and Sonarworks VoiceID so I can work with Solaria and change up the dynamics and sound after the work is done. Have to be honest though, I haven’t used either of those software packages on a production track yet!

Thanks for the Feicia tip - I’ll look into that one.

If any Dreamtonics or Eclipse folks are reading this - please consider letting registered Synth V users have access to time limited or function limited trial voices. I’m sure you’ll have better take-up (and it won’t keep costing you CC or Paypal charges )
