When will Mai be added to our accounts so we can plan our upgrades accordingly?

I would have already pre-ordered if it were not so confusing!

  • I had to re-register products I already bought and registered at a new site
  • Dreamtonics promised Mai would be added to my account so I could upgrade it when I upgrade my other voices but no sign of it yet
  • some voices I purchased directly from Dreamtonics apparently are not qualified for the upgrade plan through Dreamtonics, rather, they must be upgraded separately through Eclipsed Sounds
  • no reply from my request for clarification 3 weeks ago

I know this is not a Dreamtonics support forum but I’m sitting here with a credit card and excited to send them money!

Mai will be added on March 21st normally, so please be patient.
If you choose a free voicebank (Liam, Mo Xu), I assume a Mai VB compatibility update will be available for V2.
Some VBs are available directly on Dreamtonics for easier access, but owners (like Eclipsedsound) manage their own V2 updates.
All I know is guesswork and I agree there is some lack of precisions.

The only thing it’s still not clear to me is: where and when can I choose Liam or one of the other free voices? 21st?

I will wait until the release. Everything should be clarified by then.

The only problem I had on upgrading was having registered all my voice banks on Dreamtonics ‘My-Products’ page, the Eclipsed Sounds products’ links from that page back to Eclipsed for upgrading reported ‘broken link’ so I had to open their website on a new tab to complete.

Mai/Liam/Mo Xu will all be offered in due course, remember Dreamtonics has a staff of THREE so don’t expect instant replies to queries and the new products on schedule, they won’t be able to cope with both.

Here is a message I received yesterday from Dreamtonics support :

We are sincerely sorry for the late reply.

Mai (the complimentary voice included with Synthesizer V Studio Pro version 1) might not be visible in the Dreamtonics account system yet. However, before the launch day (March 21st, 2025), Mai will be added to all accounts of users who own a license for Synthesizer V Studio Pro version 1. This voice upgrade will apply to Mai as well.

There are two upgrade paths to obtain Mai 2:

  • Choose Mai 2 as the complimentary voice among the three options (Mai 2, Liam, Mo Xu) when upgrading the editor.
  • Choose Liam/Mo Xu as the complimentary voice, and then purchase a separate voice upgrade (this product) for Mai.

Cool, so if I have 6 or more Dreamtonics VBs and I opt for the 5+ upgrade, I can get both Mai V2 and Liam with no extra cost. Excellent!

No, it’s either one or the other: a choice must be made. May 2, Liam, Mo Xu is part of the choice to be made.

As I undertand it, I can upgrade Mai as a part of the upgrade pack, so the cost for upgrading Mai I account it as “free” since I have 5 more VBs. I upgrade my other 5 VBs, and I get Mai upgraded as well for free since there is no extra cost for additional VBs after the 5th.
Then I opt for Liam as my free V2 voices.
Hence I get both “for free” (not reslly nevause for getting Liam “free” I payed the uograde frim SV 1 to SV 2, and for getting Mai I will pay the 5+ VBs upgrade).
Then, for people with fewer VBs, yes, there will be a cost for Mai 2. But in my case, it will be “free” since I will only get her for paying for other stuff, not for her. I will not upgrade her if I had to put money specifically for her. I only use it for backing vocals, and for that purpose V1 is totally fine.

Yes it could be but… in this case why they include the MAI choice between 3 VBs.
I think it is wanted (required) to require new purchases…

They include it for those people who do not want to upgrade 5+ VBs and do want to upgrade Mai.
Let’s say you only own Mai and 1 more VB, you want Mai 2.0 and you dont want the orher 2 new VBs. In that case tou can opt to upgrade Mai for free and your only other VB for its reduced price.

That’s not the point, MAI will be available with SynthV2, but only as a compatible version. So you will have it. If you need Mai V2, yes, it’s possible. But the only way is the email response and there is no third alternative: “Choose Mai 2” or “Choose Liam/Mo Xu.”

So, are you saying that if I choose Liam or Mo Xu, I won´t be able to purchase Mai 2 separatedly? I find it hard to believe, but will see.

If you buy the “Any number” version of the Synthesizer V Voice Upgrade, it should include Mai. So it would be no extra cost for those who buy the upgrade anyway for their other voices. So they can pick Liam/Mo Xu for their free voice and get Mai 2 as well.

That’s right, you can buy everything but it comes at a cost. But it’s far from “I get Mai upgraded as well for free” even if you select “any”.

Are you just speculating or you have been informed by an internal source that it will be like you are saying?

The thing written is, that the upgrade package can be used to get Mai 2. Not for free. At the cost of the upgrade package. So in that sense, you are correct.

But if you’re buying the upgrade package already for your other voices, Mai 2 will not incur any additional cost. So for some people, it is free.
