Does anyone have some in-depth research on the new ‘Liam’ voice and the existing ‘Mo Xu’ voice for English? In-depth means that perhaps one can compare the reality of using Hayden vs Liam and MoXu versus the fabulous Solaria, specifically for Version 2.
It would be terrific to have a female vocal as strong as Solaria but whose range is a bit lower. This would compliment Solaria.
Same for Hayden vs Liam… For example, how does Liam sound when singing slightly above the demo video?
And… Is the upgrade for Solaria truly any better than V1 which is amazing in itself.
And for Hayden, there is a specific range where He can sound ‘John Waite-esque’
All of these would be used with English…
Thanks.
I can’t speak to Hayden vs Liam since the only English male voicebank I have is Jun. I picked Liam as my freebie. Jun has a lot of silibance which takes some work to control. I find Liam to be a very strong all around male vocal. If Liam goes high though he will go into a falsetto. Which is why I’ve pre-ordered HXVOC. I need someone who can belt it, even in higher registers.
As for Mo Xu vs Solaria, Solaria hands down if you are looking primarily for a native English speaker. I do find Solaria 2 better than Solaria 1. There is more clarity in her diction. They are subtle changes that make her sound even more real. But it’s not like you hear it and will go, “Oh my God it’s so much better!”
Thanks for the comments. For Liam, does going high happen after C5? or? I have Solaria but thought about MoXu as a second voice that might compliment Solaria?
And like you and others, Solaria is incredible!
Liam kind of starts going falsetto a little below C5, I would say around G4.
I haven’t heard too much of Mo Xu, but I think she could pair well with Solaria.
After eventually getting most things installed, and partly my fault for the process…
In working with Hayden 2 and the new V2, a couple of things of note:
-
There seems to be an automatic rise up to a note. This means the timing for the voice to actually reach the note is later than the way the note is written.
Is there some global to fix this? I don’t want the voice to chase and then find the correct pitch after the graphic note is written. Found this when importing a V1 project into the new V2.
-
I also have experienced the vibrato which I don’t like the lack of specific V1 controls. The fact that one cannot start with flat-line pitch and then add the vibrato at the end?
Does anyone know how to do this, like the way V1 had a Vibrato Start slider?
Is that anywhere in this interface? How can one delay the start of vibrato and set its depth?
-
For the AI Retakes… How are the settings for the buttons All, Timing, Pitch, Timbre related to any controls? As in, prior to clicking any of these buttons, what settings across what parameters actually apply?
-
How does one stop any future recalculation after setting pitch or mouth open parameters etc?
-
Stay tuned…
I tried the demo of MoXu, and was pretty instantly put off by some bad artifacts. I can’t really say I came to much of a conclusion other than it wasn’t different enough to other voices I have to be worthwhile. As a great compliment to Solaria, I would choose Felicia. Of course that’s not one of the free offerings.
I chose Liam as my free voice. The voice bank is very well done, and I feel as though his voice will be very useful. More mature than Hayden, and less rigid than Kevin. I think they work well to contrast with each other.
Thank you for the response. I think Liam has a lot of potential as well (thus far) I will have to look at Felicia.
