Pushing the voice down has mild undertones of Asterian…
I do like the versatility of this voice offering from Eclipsed Sounds…
I think Nyl suits Musicals very well…
Interesting stuff, but NYL really doesn’t work for me for dance and pop stuff.
I was hoping your tests would encourage me to persevere to try and get a workable sound, but it looks like I just picked the wrong one for my type of productions.
Thanks for your efforts to showcase the sound - should be useful for others looking for an indication of how it might work.
The more I work with a voice, the more I can see just how much control there is to shape it…
Nyl’s vibrato is naturally quite uneven and needs to be tamed. I’ve started to do just that with this next test…
This is no surprise, just as in the real world some singers are better suited to certain styles.
I don’t know much about pop and dance tracks, being self-taught and heavily into Baroque, Classical and easy listening - also love Scott Joplin’s syncopation. I think to expand my horizons into complicated rhythmic motifs, I would have to force myself to play Jazz with its dynamic mixing of triplets, duplets, who-knows-what-lets as well as before the beat, after the beat melodic offsets to appreciate it. A whole big project for quiet study at a future date maybe ???
Glad you’re finding the quick delving into various voices useful - but listening to better examples offered by others on here might help you more?
