It’s nice that you can have seven days to test a voice before deciding whether to buy it or not…
I downloaded the 7-day trial of Galenaia from Eclipsed Sounds, but can’t say I’m liking it at the moment…
It takes a lot of work to adjust it for English:
‘t’ is too lispy
‘a’ sounds need more of an open mouth
phoneme timings are not well-adjusted
the phrase ‘to you’ had an extremely weak ‘y’ as if she swalled it!
…and the Spanish Galen… sound like Ganen… so I needed to delve into the mouth-opening parameter.
NOTE - Even if you switch off vibrato (set at 0.00) the last note always has a heavy vibrato applied - YUK! To combat this I had to use the Rigid Expression almost down in the left corner…
I had thought of having a go with rap with Galenaia - but the results were really, really bad.
The Spanish phrase was going to be: “Yo, tengo que irme, hasta la mañana, feo chico mío, espera mi llamada.”
I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this voice - too much work and the horrid vibrato on the operatic voice is just way over the top. It’s early days… let’s see what a couple of years bring…
Searched the voice provider to hear the actual voice, diction and vibrato levels and can see that Eclipsed Sounds have done a fantastic job of capturing the tone, but I don’t like the resultant voicebank’s heavy vibrato and unclear diction.
My opinion…
I cannot agree with this, sorry! She is intended for classical, operatic and choral genres and I think she is superb for those roles. That vibrato can be like gold in context.
Galenaia sounds like I would expect an opera voice to. If I decide to do an operatic piece of music I would use her. ATM though that is unlikely so she remains unpurchased.

Ticking the Use European pronunciation box didn’t always give me [C] where I was expecting it, but [s] as in latin-american pronunciation. Sometime [ll] wasn’t as strong as I’d have liked it either so had to substitute [y] in places. GR of gracioso doesn’t hit hard enough sounding more like THR…
That pesky vibrato is rattling in the mix - tried to isolate it but wasn’t able to find where it was coming from exactly. Not any of the FX plugins - though reverb certainly emphasises it; any suggestions most welcome !
Having critically tested the product, ironed out my own misunderstandings and objectively evaluated Galenaia, I found that there’s definitely a place in my small collection for her … next her brother !!!
