Synthesizer V is not working any longer

I had to reinstall Windows on my PC, since then Synthesizer V is not working any more. The plugin is there and the voicebanks, too, but they don’t sing the text any longer. There is no text appearing above the events in the editor. In this situation I think it would be nice to have an account from where I can simply reinstall the plugin with a serial number or if there were a support that I could reach without a gmail account. (Or is there?) What can I do?

First question:-
Did you unregister program and voice banks prior to dumping the old installation? This frees the licences for the new install; I assume you did as you appear to have a working new install?

Second question:-
You say…

so this implies using it through a DAW - can you try SynthV as a stand-alone program? any sound then?

Third question:-
Is the problem with Windoze drivers - can anything make a sound, media player for instance?

.

Thanks very much for the quick reaction, that’s very nice!

  1. No, the problem came unexpectedly, I had no real access to the old installation.
  2. I had used SynthV inside the DAW, yes, but there was also a standalone on the desktop. Since the windows reinstall, it isn’t there any longer, and SynthV is lacking in the start menu, too.
  3. Yes, sound is there. SynthV also still makes a sound, some kind of “oooh”-glissando when there are notes.
  4. Yes, I’ve tried this of course, but then I’m led to google and have to open a gmail account or to give them my telephone number and the address of a second email-account besides the one that I have - and I have only one…
  1. This means you have lost one of your three install licenses, this can only be recovered through the provider - some voicebanks only give a single install license, one mistake and it’s burnt!
  2. and 3. Have you tried unregistering then uninstalling SynthV and then doing a new install from scratch? I’m wondering if this could be an install problem.
Just for info, what version of Windoze are you using?

4.I have never had to use this service but heard others saying it was quick and efficient, I cannot see why GMail would be required – strange! I would expect their reply to be more helpful.

  1. One out of three would be acceptable at the moment…
    2.&3. How can I unregister? I’m using windows 10.

Start SynthV and open “Licenses and Updates”, for me, extreme right of screen
For each paid voice in turn, select it and “Deactivate”
Finally, for SynthV itself, “Deactivate”
Done.

Thanks a lot! But may I come back to my “idea” that every customer should have the possibility of a user account where all the codes are stored? I had to search a while until I had found all my dreamtonics codes. For Asterian, I only have the announcement that the code will be sent in a different mail… At least, there was the possibility to send Eclipsed Sounds a message, I hope they will answer. With Audiologie (Jun), I have an account - but there is no code… (There is no code, too, ,on the order confirmation I have from them.) It took a while till I discovered the small link button to get in contact with them, and it’s the same as with Dreamtonics: I’m led to google where I first have to give them my telephone number and then to open a gmail email account.
Sorry, I’m too old for that.

But there would have to be an account for each provider, each would need a password that needs memorising or storing somewhere, they would need a server capable of checking your purchase history (at the risk of account details being shared, giving free access to others…). This still doesn’t help with licences lost due to HDD crashes/corruption; there would be no point with the voice providers allowing only one install anyway!

Maybe I am a cleptomaniac but… I have a directory “Install Files” on my work drive with a subdirectory for SynthV which contains a copy of every voice bank’s *.svpk, a copy of ‘svstudio-pro-setup.exe’ and anything related such as vocal mode descriptions and user manuals. I then maintain a list of purchased voice banks with licence code, purchase date and supplier hyperlink, all backed up of course.

As I download install files anyway, I see it as no problem to copy them to this folder prior to install anyway, the licence code, I think, is more valuable so makes sense to save - I still need to deactivate in SynthV if I migrate to a new machine but at least I have something to start with.

Sorry, that’s my thoughts anyway

Thanks, these are interesting suggestions. But offering accounts is developer’s common practice. I’m making backups of all files I get like you and indeed a print copy of all data like serial numbers. But we all make mistakes with our hundreds and hundreds of plugins, so somehow some things were lacking. Which is not a big problem if you can get access to developer’s support. Eclipsed sound answered me today. Bur making access to this support dependant on google’s marketing strategies is not very nice. I’ve got all the Dreamtonics data that I need, but perhaps I’ll have to do without Jun in future… which means I’ll never buy something from Audiologie again. And from any developer who offers only one license and offers no help in restoring it after a crash like mine.

Hooray!! Everything installed and working again. Thanks a lot, it’s so important in such a situation to be given the feeling not to be left alone.

Yes, feel free to contact Dreamtonics about that. They won’t see if you’re only posting in the forums, because the forum moderators aren’t Dreamtonics employees.

I recently had to move to a new computer and did the same thing to get all the activation codes.

One good thing is that if you’ve got the activation code, you can download the latest version of your products from Dreamtonics, no matter where you’ve purchased them from. Use:

https://auth.dreamtonics.com/store/download?c=ACTIVATION_CODE

This includes the SynthV editor, Vocoflex, and any voices you’ve purchased from any vendor.

Yes, but the problem is that I’d have to open a gmail-account to get through to them…

Glad to be of some help

You can create a Gmail account without a phone number. I just tried it and was successful… Maybe they just changed the process? I was on private browsing to do this and even skipped adding a recovery account, hope this helps
