Synth V 2 suggestions

I’ve been using SV2 pretty heavily since launch and my background is in FE programming, so I thought I’d give my thoughts and suggestions. Overall, I’m really enjoying the updates. I mourned the loss of manual mode until I discovered how powerful pitch points and the ai retake panel is. The phoneme panel is fantastic too, so intuitive and useful. There are a couple of things stopping me from switching over completely and a few that are more ‘nice to have’ suggestions and opinions.

Voice Params

  • [Most important] Need to be able to save params, copy and paste across groups
  • Enable me to set a track level vocal param

Crosslang

  • [Most important] Fix pronunciation of non-native phonemes (if you want to keep accents, then have them generate a pronunciation that uses the phoneme they say ex. “d” instead of “dh” in the word “that”)

Pitch editing/points

  • Let me run trace pitch with the pitch points open - i want to see how many points it created
  • I’d like to be able to see pitch points on pitch dev automation track too so that I know if they are interfering with one another
  • Better yet, just allow me to see pitch points on all the time as an option
  • Ideally implement some shorthand to give me a little more manual like control over vibrato
  • Make it more intuitive how to erase drawn pitch lines

Arrangement view

  • Enable me to drag to select multiple groups, when I have to click on each individually I sometimes I do subtle unintentional shifts
  • Enable me to easily set the playback loop to be currently selected group

Scripts

  • Enable me to easily import sv1 scripts if I have it installed since they mostly all still work
  • Not sure if this is implemented, enable me to work with vocal modes easily in scripts

VST

  • [Bug] Settings doesn’t work in FL studio 2024 (windows 11), brings up blank screen
  • [Bug] Flickering during playback when SV2 VST is open in FL Studio

Voice panels

  • Show the values next to the parameters, instead of hiding until I hover – use Edward Tufte’s principles because I’m working here, not trying to look pretty
  • Personal bias, but I don’t care for the round dials as they feel less precise than sliders. Round dials are an artifact of physical space, in digitals space, sliders work better.

Voicebank selection

  • Allow me to reorder voicebanks or mark certain ones as favorites - at least let me sort by masc/fem and a-z (company order is unintuitive)

As you have been using SV2 a lot, how have you overcome the lack of global vibrato settings? You didn’t mention it above so I’m curious if you found a solution other than word by word editing.

I haven’t felt the gap that badly. Usually, I have been wanting to control the vibrato on a note by note basis. Or I do a “ctrl-a” after merging groups and set the param that way (i do that for rigid mode on pretuned svps too).
