Stand On The Tracks (original feat. Kevin, Natalie, Sheena)

sometimes, after losing all that matters, the options are limited even if you have lived a good and honest life.

Kevin on lead vocals, Natalie and Sheena on backing vox.

Beautiful though it’s sad! This is the one of your songs that I know that I like most. And how do you manage to let Kevin sound like this? Sometimes I’m thinking of Neil Young when listening, sometimes of Eric Clapton (though they sounud quite different, I know).

this song - i wanted a somber vocal so i kept the breathiness on the low side and the gender deeper (like 240 or 250) to set the mood. no large vocal jumps although the backing vocals did more of the lifts on “mercy” etc (avoid that monotonic feel).
oddly, not a lot of tweaking on the pitch or phoneme. i may have run a couple of takes to do a final shaping.
