Q: User Dictionaries - Wildcard Characters

Quick Question: Is there a way to add wildcard characters (*, +, ?) to the user dictionaries to save having to type a long list of word where a simple vowel change in most (if not all) cases would suffice?

For example:

Asterian pronounces God as G[aa]d - I don’t want this I want G[ao]d and everytime he say God, God’s, Godly, gods, godless, godfather, etc I want [ao] and not [aa] so in the user dictionary I would like to type G ao d * to denote all words beginning with god…

Can this already be done? If not … DREAMTONICS this is my user request…!!!

This is an amazing idea.

pr perhaps both wildcard and regex search patterns? wildcards for basic use, regex for more complex pattern matching.

Hi @Bobox
I think I know this one. Go to the dictionary panel on the right of the UI (3rd icon down) and open the panel. Create a NEW custom dictionary and save it. Then type in the WORD you want to change the phonemes to and below that enter the PHONEMES you want to use in that word. Click SET and the new word appears in the table below.

I just tried it and it immediately changes all instances of that word in the song you have loaded.

Pretty neat :+1:

Hope this helps.

I would certainly use Regex if I wanted to make sweeping changes to a copy of the default dictionary, but feel it may be overkill for adding word variations to a list. ‘?’ As single place holder and ‘*’ for multiples might be all that’s needed for most users. Though the original entry g ao d * would have to remain in tact and not result in a list of words being added else any mistakes could be easily rectified and not result in bad user dictionary.

That’s true all words in the current project are immediately updated to the one word change; dog (d aa g) to (d oa g) but dogged would not change and requires a new user listing / setting.
