Disclaimers
This forum post was made during March 21, 2025 and these problems may no longer exist days, weeks, or months after this post.I’d also like to say that this post is in no way meant to spread negativity as I wish to remain hopeful about Synthesizer V Studio 2 (SV2 moving forward) since there are in fact features within SV2 that I am a big fan of, but to brush aside its problems is to hinder improvement and progress.
So, while it’s still early, I want to express my current grievances with SV2 in the hopes that we’ll get updates. My point isn’t to remove, delete, or change completely, but to allow us to have more options or get what we currently have improved upon on.
Removal of Integral Features
The following is a list of features that were present in SV1, but are now, to the detriment of SV2, currently missing.Removal of Manual Tuning
This is embarrassing.I get why having these automated processes are necessary to let new users have an easier time, but I liked being able to manually tune every little aspect of the Voice Bank’s (VB moving forward.) singing.
The automation isn’t even any good and makes the VBs go from one extreme end to the other; which is awful if you’re trying to make smoother note transitions.
I’d at least like an option to have this automated process turned off like how I was able to do it in Synthesizer V Studio. (SV1 moving forward.)
Removal of Phoneme Sliders
I understand that the new phoneme technology is present, but what happened to the sliders that let us control phoneme strengths and lengths? This feels like a major oversight.Removal of Global Vibrato Modulation & Groups Panel

Issue brought up by @VocalDabbler and quoted onto this post.Buggy Mess
There's already a plethora of posts online, and within this forum about SV2's bugs, while I haven't faced the bugs some people are facing, I'd at least like to mention mine, and list down problems others have brought up within this post.Problem with Pause/Stop Buttons
There is an awful delay between me pressing the pause/stop button, and the software realizing I actually hit the pause/stop button.Sometimes, it doesn’t even pause/stop at all, it’ll just keep going till the song ends.
Slower Rendering Time
Issue brought up by @VocalDabbler and quoted onto this post. This UI/UX is God Awful
Here's a list of problems I personally have, and would like to have options to have it tweaked to our liking.- Everything's huge. Massive. Gigantic. In your face. Give us the option to scale the UI down, because everything, right down to the buttons and the text, are eating up too much space. If not a global scale down, I'd at least like options to have these tweaked to our liking.
- Why is the play, pause, stop, etc. buttons so huge, and why am I unable to move it somewhere else? It takes up SO MUCH screen space, since it's eating a whole upper row.
- The arrangement panel has two new tabs which are Signature and Tempo, and at its core these are good things, but I would like these to either be separate tabs, or have an option to get it turned on/off. It's eating another two rows of screen space and these are tabs I won't be looking at until I get to a certain stage of my workflow.
- Everything on the side panels is supermassive too.
- The contrast between the grid lines is too much and makes it look overbearing, give us the option to tone down its opacity.
- With the risk of sounding like a proper boomer, the above problems within this section can be easily solved if we are given the option to have an SV1-like UI Option.
Thoughts & End Notes
With the assumption that I can edit this post after, I will likely list down more things, or cross off certain things.I’ll also add an update to each thing I cross off so that anyone who has similar issues to mine reads this post later can know the issues have been resolved and how.
I want to stay optimistic about SV2.
In its interest to please the casual and/or new users, it resulted in alienating its older users. Even the transition from the original Synthesizer V Editor (SV0 moving forward) to SV1 wasn’t THIS alienating. In fact, it was very well received.
Which makes SV2 look like am embarrassing upgrade cause it currently feels like a downgrade unless the user is someone completely new and oblivious to what SV1 had.
I understand that SV2 is still new, and it’s basically at its infancy as a software, but the nice upgrades to certain VBs (keyword: certain, not all) aside, and the whole login feature saving me from having to contact customer service in an event I face problems with an activation code thanks to unforseen circumstances (e.g. my laptop breaking), as of right now, SV2 has more cons than pros and I’d like to tip the scales.
To those who managed to read this long, long post, if you have any other issues you’d like to bring up, please feel free to mention them by commenting on this post and I’ll edit my post to list it down as well.
