Problems with multiple instances on Reaper

I attempted to use three instances of V2.0.7 in Reaper: one ARA (empty) and two ARA Bridged, for the lead vocal tracks and a chorus. It turned out to be a poor decision.

List of issues encountered:

  • In 90% of cases when opening the project, rendering freezes in both bridged VSTs at 0% or 1%.
  • It (sometimes) resumes only if I terminate one of the instances and reload it from a file. But then playback becomes extremely laggy (to a comical extent).
  • Any interaction with a plugin during rendering causes the entire DAW to crash.

In conclusion, avoid doing this!

I ultimately removed the chorus VST and rendered it as a WAV file in the studio.

There shouldn’t be anything stopping you from using one copy of SV2 ARA Bridged with different voice tracks being output to separate channels in your DAW. I do this all the time with Cubase and Nuendo.

Unless Reaper is not capable of this ???

Yes that’s what I usually do, but for the chorus there were too many voices tracks so I wanted to have only one instance with stereo output. That’s why I tried this. Bad idea
