Original pop song with Felicia on lead vocal, Solaria, Sheena and Hayden on backing vocals.
The high notes gave me goosebumps⦠of the good kind, that is. Thank you.
I love the level of the backing vocals - almost unnoticed, but makes the track fattā¦Needs a real ending, thoughā¦
No better ending that cutting a guitarist off before theyāre done.
Great job all around. I think the lyrics in particular are well crafted.
My guitarist replied, āWhatās that word, ādone?āā
then continued playing - ā¦promise them anything, but give them arpeggiosā¦
Thanks @keith.parks. This song has definitely been more a labour of love than anything else Iāve ever done, both lyrically and musically. It started out very different to how it ended up. The initial inspiration was Reverend Lee (by Gene McDaniels, almost simultaneously released by him and Roberta Flack⦠the Flack version was more popular). A later version by Diane Schuur and GRP (live recording) provided more of a musical inspiration for this (that was the first time I ever heard of Reverend Lee back in the 1990ās), along with singer Shayna Steele, who I think has a somewhat similar voice to Felicia. It did change course a little from both of these really - more pop than rock, and a little less funky than the GRP version of Reverend Lee.
Now I know the meaning of the King Crimson song title: āWhen I say stop ⦠continue!ā
