I spent hours working on the vocal part in a Reaper (DAW) project using Synthesizer V (VSTi3 with ARA). This morning, I started Reaper just to listen to the result, and the project loaded (including Synth V) exactly as I had saved it the day before. After listening, I closed the project and didn’t let Reaper save it. I opened the project again a few hours later, and the entire Synth V project is gone. The rest of the Reaper project is as I saved it. Synth V starts up blank. Even in the automatic backups that Reaper made earlier, Synth V is empty. I didn’t save the Synth V part separately in Synth V itself, as that wasn’t necessary until now.
Where has the Synth V part gone?
On the file menu of Synth V, make sure you select “save inside host”
as a note - i frequency save any plugin settings as a preset so i don’t lose it when the DAW does something unexpected. as bvesco noted - save in host, and me - i save outside the host as well (although my workflow is mostly in the standalone SV app).
Thanks for de reply,
I did used the “Save Inside Host” function. As expected, Reaper started with Synth V including the adjustments made in Synth V. Without saving the Reaper project, I closed Reaper. So, nothing changed in the opened file. However, when opened several hours later, it doesn’t start with the Synth V adjustments. Also, with all of the backups generated by Reaper’s auto-save, Synth V starts up empty.
Saving the plugin as a preset is a good idea. I often do that, but I hadn’t thought of it with Synth V yet. I think that will work better than the “Save as” within Synth V. I’m going to try that as well.
