Is it just me or in version 2.0 missing a bunch of key features?

I’m sure I’m missing something but what happened to the ability to adjust individual phonemes? I’m stuck with a Liam track in which he’s over-pronouncing quite a few sounds – but I can change the problem areas. It seems I can only perform a global fix.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

You might have a look at the mouth opening attribute, which will give you some level of control over the brightness of vowels.

You can still change individual phonemes by editing them above each note.

I upgraded the plugin and all my voices but I’ll probably never use it as it stands.
Even with the upgrade savings I think I spent 120 bucks which has turned out to be a bit of a waste of money. in my opinion, this is an inferior product and the problem needs to be sorted out or I’m likely going to end up just jumping ship as soon as something else surpasses V1, be that V2 getting fixed ( yes, IMO it’s broken ) or another company comes up with something that surpasses it ( which is only a matter of time ).
I mostly work by roughing out the vocal line and melody to start with and then make a pass fine-tuning the phoneme expression – I’m at that stage right now and have just realised that I can’t do it.
I’ve just exported the track to V1 and I have my controls back and everything is once more proceeding well again.
It’s served me well so far so I’ll just carry on like V2 never happened.

Appreciate the honest answer. I agree completely. So unfortunate. Reverting back to V1 is fine except I just worked on a new tune that works best with Liam, who is a V2 voice. Not giving up yet, but there are a couple of phoneme issues that I can’t fix that are making him a deal breaker.

Luckily I didn’t use Liam. I’m using Natalie and even without any tweaking, she sounds better in V1 than the V2 version. Ridiculous.

[The worst part for me is the lack of level/duration control of the phonemes, as that is a big way I de-ess. I really do hope this feature is reintroduced as it is very powerful.] Not applicable please see the MattiS response below.

On initial listen I feel the voices (Nat & Kev) are more fluid.

Thanks to the @Dreamtonics for allowing navigation customisation - I can now make it the same as my DAW.

Perhaps I don’t understand what you mean by level/duration control of the phonemes, but doesn’t the editor below the Piano Roll Editor which becomes visible only when there are notes with text offer this control in a more convenient way than in V 1? Apologies if this is a silly question!

Thanks Matti me for pointing me in the right direction. You are right the new controls are visually more convenient. I will edit my post to reflect this. :+1:

Hey there. I was ranting and raving about this very issue until I discovered what I was missing. In the bottom left there is a tab called ‘ae Phoneme Timing’. I went from complaining about how version 2 had no phoneme control (like in v1) to being fairly thrilled with how the tool works now. The ability to control where syllables and sounds change within a note is amazing.

Check it out if you haven’t yet.

Agree K - Would have been nice if there had been a little welcome tour on first install to show the change of location. Overall I like V2 - it’s more of an evolution rather than a revolution.
