Recently I have downloaded the trial version of “Ling Wan 2”. This is an SV2 voice, captured from a female Chinese singer. As that voice was sounding nice to me and was also capable of speaking English on a relatively acceptable level, I considered the option to buy her voice eventually.
However, when trying to do the actual purchase via the “my dreamtonics” page and pushing the “BUY” button there, I’m being automatically forwarded to a Chinese Dreamtonics website. Hmmm, sorry Guys, but I can neither read Cantonese, nor Mandarin. Pressing any buttons there without knowing what I’m actually doing (or agreeing on) is much too risky for me.
Well, I would have expected that all available Dreamtonics voices are somehow hosted on the same “international” Dreamtonics platform, in the same way as their related trials are. Obviously this is not the case. Why is Dreamtonics offering non-English voice trials at all, if the full versions cannot be even purchased by non-Chinese speaking people in the end? For test purposes I tried to put a Japanese SV2 voice into the cart as well. And to my surprise, this time I was even forwarded to a Japanese page I can’t read as well.
Why making things that complicated for customers, willing to buy Dreamtonics products? How to proceed from here in my special case where such a voice should have been ordered along with other products already residing in the “international” cart?
This separation doesn’t make any sense to me, so I’m currently thinking about withdrawing my initial plans. The time for the current Dreamtonics sales is slowly running out. But, to be honest, I don’t expect any solution to be available from Dreamtonics during the Easter holidays which have just started everywhere. Any suggestion from the community? Thanks.
I have managed to buy voicebanks from a japanese website DLSite (or something similar, excuse me if I spell it incorrectly). However, to buy from Europe on that site you need to buy “points” and then use those points to get the products you want, since they do not accept European payment sites/cards. It is a convoluted process and you might not be sure if it will work… but I have done it, and it worked. 2 extra benefits: prices are usually cheaper than at the dreamtonics website, and they will offer you discount coupons once you register.
Thanks a lot for that very interesting intel you provided. So, in fact it’s anyway not foreseen to let international customers put certain SV2 items coming from different sellers into the same “Dreamtonics cart” which is managed by “FastSpring” at checkout time (whatever that company does - aside from adding taxes to the amount only). So, I guess I have to live with the fact that some particular voices are obviously “not meant” to be bought by all Dreamtonics users. Kind of strange policy, but I take it. Hi, most browsers offer to translate the page for you.
If you’re using Edge at the top in the URL inbox to the right is a small figure you can click to get the page translated. This is not the only way to do it; you can right-click any blank part of the page and choose this option too.
I’m surprised that when you visited the page the browser didn’t offer to translate the page? Maybe it did???
Hi, I don’t use MS Edge due to several reasons; I’m using Firefox instead.
Yes, you are right, usually there will always be a message popping up whenever entering a site available in a foreign language, asking me automatically if I’d like to get a related translation. But not this time. Even when entering the browser menu manually and going to the option “translate page”, it will just tell me that no translation is available in this case. No sure why, but it’s a fact.
I also selected any readable text and copied it directly into Google translator for more information. But as you might have guessed, not all pasted content - especially buttons with ther speceific contents and their position etc - can be captured and correctly interpreted by using this method. I could only read in some portions of the translated text that the delivery will take 15 days which made me think that this offer might be related to a “boxed” product version or similar. No thanks in this case.
In the meantime I have lost my interest experimenting with non-English sites, including other stores with point-related systems etc., not providing clear indications or instructions on how to pay by simply using PayPal and getting instant access to the download.
