Despised (feat. Hayden, Natalie, and NineZero)

Welcome to life on earth in 2025 – an entropic existence in which good and evil are equally despised. And so the eternal battle rages on. Rise or fall.

I think the vocals are used very effectively here. I also like the music alternating between the “heavy” parts and the lighter sections. I did think the early-middle part (around 2:30 -4:00) is a bit too long for how it meanders. Or a bit too meandering for how long it is. But that’s a small thing, and the video gives me something to keep me occupied at least. But overall, a really interesting piece!

Thank you, sir. I really appreciate the thoughtful feedback. I don’t disagree with your reaction to the long middle. It’s a lot. I like to lose myself in sound while I’m working and this section let’s me float away, so sometimes I let it go on and on. Maybe I need to do a radio edit : )

wow! overall, really liked it. kind of a Tool vibe? production and video were phenomenal. And somehow you made the vocals work, though maybe I wouldn’t be able to get through an full album of that style of vocal (I’ve never been able to get NineZero to sound good in anything), but for this song - well done!

also, i get how some might think some sections meander a bit, but if you’re a fan of Tool or similar, this is spot on.

Thank you, sir. As happy as I am with Synth V overall, they’re really lacking in the male rock vocal category. The vocals I end up with are enough to get the song idea across but I’d flip for a proper heavy music vocal. If they could get a David Draiman or Chester Bennington vibe, Id be pretty pumped.

The best I’ve ever gotten from NineZero turned out to be a punk tune where his grating vox actually suit the abrasive nature of the tune.

Here’s ‘Blind’ if you’re interested:

Totally agree. I think you got about as good as can be had out of NineZero, but it took a bit of effects (and music to match) to do it. This is an area that SynthV struggles with, and you might want to check out voice replacement tools like Audimee, to see if you can get better options.

Is Audimee compatible with DT?

not sure what DT means in this context… (I only think of it as Dream Theater…!)

Sorry…Dreamtonics. I was thinking in syllables

oh that…! So the short answer is…no, but yes. There is no interaction between the two. You have to take your SynthV track, render it out to WAV or MP3, then upload that file to Audimee (or other similar services), convert it and download the new audio track, which you’d then import into your DAW as a new track. That’s how it stands today, and it’s a real PitA, especially when you want to make tweaks to the performance. Some day there could be better integration, maybe VST options. Or maybe SynthV will get some usable rock/metal voices…

Again, that’s pretty heavy, still more now with the video. Great how you connect that with and achieve that by your own special way of treating the vocals. Never would have recognized NineZero. Yes, some kind of Tool vibe, I would agree to that.Impressive video. For me the “meandering” is ok looking at the proportions of the whole piece. A point of relaxation. Perhaps I would have started some kind of keyboard solo with a weird sound

I love the keyboard idea! That’s a skill I don’t possess though. I wouldn’t want to program it since I think to suit the song, it would have to feel organic and have human dynamics to it.

I guess the heaviness comes with the subject matter. Sometimes I think the best thing for humanity would be an alien invasion. That way we’d have a common enemy rather than looking for one within our species.
