Dear Dreamtronics. OS Windows 11 23H2, DAW Cubase 14.0.20. I have a Problem that occurs since Version 1.11.2 Stable of Synthesizer V. When I installed it, it runs allright as the standalone version. When I startet Cubase 14, and added a new Instrument Track with the VST of Synthesizer V, Cubase was not outputting audio anymore. Even the Meters in the tracks where not moving. The playhead plays through the timeline and no Track (other Instruments, MIDI, Audio …) was putting out Audio anymore. Audioconnections and co where allright. I am using the RME Fireface UFX III with USB. When I discovered this, I deinstalled Synth V completley and reinstalled Version 1.11.0b3. With this version everything worked allright!!! It runned standalone and it was perfectly working as expected in Cubase 14 as a Instrumenttrack as VST.
When I upgraded now to the Version Pro 2 of Synthesizer V, the same behaviour as described for 1.11.2 occured. After adding a track with Synth V Pro 2, the audio output of cubase is away! Its there when there is no Synth V track, and immediatly simply away, after loading the plugin. The audio connections are still correctly setted. I dont understand whats happening. All other Plugins are working allright with no problems.
I would really like to use V2, but currently its just impossible. I expected this bug to be disappeared with the v2 so I upgraded all.
BTW: I tried to delete the settings.xml of Synth V, but that changed nothing.
Could you check what happened/changed between 1.11.0b3 and 1.11.2 Stable, and is still there in 2.0.7 and could create this behaviour?
Best regards,
Frank
Dear Manassas, I can make a screenshot (this evening). But what Screenshot do you exactly want? You want a Screenshot of Cubase with the Trackview? I can do this, but I ask myself what you expect to see there, that can be compared (to what?).
Just trying to understand your setup and compare against mine. Just something to get a conversation going - there must be a fundamental difference somewhere.
Have you tried starting a new, virgin project (as in ‘Create Empty’ from the hub, rather than one using a template), insert a VST track and an ARA track, create a new group and capture a few notes. I assume that plays okay, either with the default sound, or one of the standard voices.
If so, add a new track with one of the stock VSTs - like Retrologue. Capture a few notes and see if they both play.
I’m just wondering in Synth V has some sort of incompatibility with a third party plugin you’re using? Either an instrument or an insert effect.
Hi manassas,
thanks for the helping hand. Just wanted to start what you suggested in your last posting, but now I have a real (different) problem. The ASIO Driver of the RME UFX III is gone … As long as I cant fix this, I cant start to check the Synth V usage, as you suggested (good idea btw.). Unfortuantly I think I cant fix this until thursday. I come back then.
The following options are available in the Plug-Ins section:
Deactivate all third party plug-ins
Temporarily disables all third party plug-ins. After startup, only Steinberg plug-ins are available.
The following options are available in the Preferences section:
Use current program preferences
Opens the program with the current preference settings.
Disable program preferences
Disables the current preferences and opens the program with the factory default settings instead.
Delete program preferences
Deletes the preferences and opens the program with the factory default settings instead. This process cannot be undone. This affects all versions of Cubase installed on your computer.
It may be drastic - but deleting preferences should give you a clean start and fix all plugin unexpected behaviours. I’ve done it several times and found it helps a lot.
Hello,
Thank you very much for your suggestions. I really want to try them out because they are really good tips to further narrow down the cause of the problem.
Now, right after my post, a problem arose with my audio interface. It seems to be more serious than I thought. The RME UFX III is recognized as an audio device but produces an error in the Device Manager with the USB devices (Unknown Device). As a result, the ASIO drivers are no longer available and it doesn’t work. I’ve tried almost all possible driver/USB problem solutions, but haven’t had any success yet. I can’t rule it out, but I don’t think there’s a connection with the Synthesizer V 2.0 Pro. It’s more of an unfortunate coincidence that nothing works anymore with the Audio device…
That’s why, of course, I haven’t gotten around to systematically searching for the causes of the Synth V 2.0 problem yet.
Thank you for your constructive contributions so far. As soon as I’ve solved the driver/USB problem, I’ll come back to your great suggestions!
Many thanks,
Frank
Does your audio device work okay with SV2 standalone?
Does it work okay with other things, if it’s just Cubase then resetting Cubase might just fix your problem and let you start from scratch.
if not and you want windows to reset your device - search for updated drivers? If these are already installed on your system then delete the device, reboot and let windows reinstall it. Sounds like something has become corrupt along the way.
You can also check out “SFC /scannow” to correct any installation problems with your operating system.
