Bought V1 it worked. Recently bought upgrade to V2 and purchased a vocal pack
no options to download.
I have no vocal packs at all showing, such a buggy mess…
I’m beyond it…good goin ya got my money
I certainly cannot speak to the problems you are having but since you said “buyer beware” I feel the need to say that V2 and the upgraded voice packs are now working well for me. I did have some gripes though!
The upgrade process was frustrating and convoluted. I needed help from people here to get it figured out (and I work in SW dev so usually I am the one helping!)
I did not feel it was fair to have to pay another company for upgraded voices when I had purchased those voices directly from Dreamtonics.
I was very disappointed with the removal of certain features like voice presets but they have been pretty diligent about addressing those concerns with several updates since initial release. I hope they continue to address concerns raised here and elsewhere!
I am def NOT seeing the 300% speed improvement they promised and have actually seen it running slower on my high-end machine but I can live with the speed.
And I wish they would take the time to fully document the updates. The current manual, as far as I can tell, is mostly V1. And apparently their history is not good when it comes to documentation.
But with that all said, after figuring out their upgrading process and having installed several updates, overall, I am glad I purchased the product.
@Sharpola Many have found upgrading etc difficult. Have you gone to your account page (the my.dreamtonics one) and entered your serials?
Personally I read the instructions and followed them and no problems.
Personally, I have seen a big improvement in speed and resource allocation.
A six-voice song in v1 took some three minutes before playing would be stutter-free, basically it had to render all six voices to completion. Now in v2 I am finding a big improvement, speed of render and being able to start play so very much earier in the rendering — and no more stuttering
As for upgrade installation, I do think it was a bit ‘bumpy’ trying to figure it out but now there are clear instructions on the website and loads of user-case examples, there should be few problems.
The manual will, I am sure, be updated as soon as the tiny team at Dreamtonics can get to it, they will still be flat-out dealing with the launch.
The activation process is not straightforward as it was previously, but it was not so hard to figure out either. I am asumming user of this product have a level of proficiency with computers and plugins enough to make this work.
Transferring V1 projects to V2 and getting used to the new stuff required a bit of work to start with, but after a couple of days I was as good or better than with V1.
Updates have been many and prompt, and the remaining issues I am sure will be fixed soon.
I also did not notice a 300% increase in speed. After opening the project in the DAW, the voices are generated about 50% faster, but when changing a parameter of some notes, you have to wait a few seconds for the entire audio track to be generated. Before this happens, even other voices are not audible during playback of the song. Version V1 at least played other voices and resumed playback of the changed voice as soon as the played part of the track was ready.
I checked the processor load after changing the global voice parameter and it turned out that initially only one, maybe two threads work for 2-3 seconds, then others join and at most half of the threads available in the processor work (I have 12 cores and 24 threads processor).
I too had initial problems with the upgrade, but if you follow the update instructions carefully, you should find it works. You WILL need the install 16-digit codes for each voice and app, but ultimately, you will do the upgrade from the new app itself, NOT in the web page.
Hope this helps, I still am far from up-to-speed on it, but the new options ARE useful and once I have the new paradigm down, will be worth it.
The goal is better, more accurate voice rendering, and I think this will give you that… Good luck, don’t give up.
I too had issues but after slowing down and re-reading the emails I saw my error and able to load the V2 upgrade and all the voices I have (6). Learning curve is faster since I had V1 however, running in Pro tools is new issue. It loads fine but once project saved it can’t get past the Synth V2 plugin error and it crashes Pro tools. One work around might be to save the V2 file separately then remove the plugin before saving Pro tools file…
The upgrade process WAS convoluted (including having to go to Eclipsed Sounds site to download the V2 voices for two of my singers). But I have to say that I got everything working, and I was able to obtain a new free voice which was nice. It’s running faster for me, but not 300%. The biggest difference is that the standalone version 1 had sluggish scrolling, and version scrolls like a dream. However, the removal of the ability to control vibrato speed has made me stop using Version 2 and I’ve gone back to Version 1. No real singer has the same fast vibrato under all circumstances, and other vocal synths have the ability to change vibrato speed. This is a mandatory feature that was removed, so I’ll run Version 1 until it’s added back in.
Well I decided to give it one last try tonight, didn’t do anything different from the last dozen try attempts but tonight it worked first attempt… so cool!
Thanks
Follow up - for anyone reading this thread who wants to control the vibrato speed, read the Vibrato Tool thread. There’s a script you can download that adds in this capability.
